I've tried Joystiq.
I've tried 1-UP.
I've tried GameInformer.
I've tried (and loathe) Destructoid.
I'd love to have a podcast to listen to every night while I work. I'd love for them to be as good as Giantbomb. Yet every website's podcast that I listen to is either incredibly boring, and dull like I'm listening to NPR or something. Or it sounds like they are using crappy walkie-talkies as their podcast recording equipment. I just can't find anything that is as good as Giantbomb, not just in humor, but in quality as well.
Anyone have any advice? Does Kotaku have a podcast? Gamesradar? I haven't tried either of them. Would they be worth it?
Other Gaming Podcasts
1 Up has suffered in the absence of Garnett Lee. It survived against all odds through the various line up changes, but his departure was pretty much the end. David Ellis seems like a nice guy but 4 Guys 1 Up is pretty bad.
I concur with the Rebel FM suggestion. Although be forewarned, their sense of humor makes even the most questionable joke on the Bombcast look highbrow by comparison.
You can listen to Spill.com's Let's Do This. Not gaming but it's pretty funny.
" You can listen to Spill.com's Let's Do This. Not gaming but it's pretty funny. "I concur, ''Hey It's Goatsie''
I just listen to the Bombcast, joystiq, the mobcast and (yes, yes, I know) Major Nelson. In all cases, it's just the personalities involved with it. Kotaku's podcast is total junk. I sometimes don't care much for the mobcast, but that's because of the cycle of guests, and more often than not it's good. Major Nelson is obviously just about Microsoft stuff and fairly protective of the company, but I still enjoy the interactions between the regulars. Interviews are meh.
I just tried listening to Gamesradar's podcast and didn't like it. They constantly have sounds, and music playing in the background, and that just ruined it for me. Plus, nothing about how they were talking and interacting with each other seemed entertaining in the least.
I also tried Kotaku. That was a mess. Their website is a mess, their podcast listing is a mess, and I hated the phone in interviews. I don't want to hear someone talk in a robotic, staticy voice. And why can't these websites have a clear button, page, and list of all their podcasts that you can download straight from the website? So far, almost all the websites I've went to aren't clear on where you download their podcasts from. I have to spend several minutes looking over their cluttered website, and half the time they inevitably send me to iTunes... I hate that.
Even Rebel FM. It's ok, but just skipping through it I never heard them laugh, or talk about something silly. It was just them talking in low tones about a specific video game. With GiantBomb, you can't hardly scroll through a podcast without hearing them laugh, or say something funny, or entertaining. I guess that's what I'm looking for the most. Entertaining mixed with a bit of game information.
I listen to Bombcast, Mobcast, Pixel Revolt, and watch Co-op.

I've tried a few game related podcasts, GB's the only one i still listen to.
- I liked Citizen Game but has not listened to it since they took a break awhile back and my itunes stopped auto updating the podcast (still haven't gone back to check out the latest) .
- i use to listen to Sarcastic Gamer until they changed the format of the show and the most entertaining guy Lano (sp?) left because of the change (just throwin that in there in the event that they went back to their old format and i'm just not up on it).
- I also like Co-op but not religious about it like GB
Two of my favorites are Drunken Gamers and Gamers With Jobs. DG is a little quirky, with a large part of the show consisting of drunken rambling rather than game talk, but the guys are pretty hilarious. Don't expect as much info on the current crop of games as the Bombcast, they talk a lot about older games and niche genres like shmups. GWJ is a bit more serious than the Bombcast, they have fairly in-depth discussions on gaming topics with a rotating cast. Both are by folks outside the gaming industry, they do this as a hobby. More of an average person's perspective than a pro site like GB.
" You can listen to Spill.com's Let's Do This. Not gaming but it's pretty funny. "I'm more of a LEOG fan myself.
Rebel FM is allllmost as good as the Giant Bombcast imo, but you NEED to get used to their humor and Arthur very much showing that he is an art student. I can see why people would hate 4 Guys 1UP, since its pretty mature and they cover very broad topics. The Geekbox is mildly entertaining. CAGcast is pretty great. Everything in the IGN Games feed is top notch. Oh and Mobcast shocked me with how thought-provoking it is..if you can get past Shoe's constant need to remind us that Raychul is his girlfriend.
The Mobcast is excellent, and the episodes are only an hour long. Basically it's four guys (each week the cast is different except for the host, who is either Aaron Thomas or Dan Hsu) who each bring a topic related to video games to discuss. At the end they discuss one topic chosen from the community. Real fun to listen to.
I just tried to listen to the CheapAssGamer podcast and couldn't stand it. Honestly I get the perfect vibe from the bombcast but I was bored so I tried out CAG. Listened to it for a bit over an hour and couldn't take it anymore. These guys are trying way to hard to be funny in a really crass way, wit comes naturally with the GB crew. Whoever the main guy is, I want to choke him out.
Listen to old (2005-2007) GameSpot Presents the Hotspot episodes. Most of them feature either Rich Gallup or Vinny hosting Ryan, Jeff and Brad among other great ex-Gamespotters. There are some classic podcasts. They're never bad during this era.
Weekend Confirmed is pretty good. It is where Garnett Lee is podcasting now he left 1up and is with shacknews. It has humor and unusual/interesting topics. My second favorite next to the bombcast.

Garnett's passion for games can be intoxicating and he's always on point and knows what the hell he's talking about (most of the time). During the time between 1up and now, when he wasn't podcasting, I found myself really missing Garnett, even though he can't go a single episode without SLAUGHTERING a segue.
Go through the old GFW Radios. The talk about games was really entertaining when it was current, not sure iflistening to older news still holds up. The off topic rambling sure does though.
here's another Weekend Confirmed recommendation. Garnett's a great host and i love Jeff Cannata's enthusiasm, dude is pumped for games. i stopped listening to a bunch of gaming podcasts besides Giant Bomb, and now that Mr. Lee is back, Weekend Confirmed.
Presented by GBs own Brad Nicholson. Would avoid the latest one (7) as Brad wasn't there.
Also, avoid completly if you dislike Jim Sterling.
The gams jarnalists over at Talk Radar are fucking awesome. Gets hated on all the time by other video game forums but they are the funniest and nicest guys on the video game podcast scene. Also, check out GFW radio. Not really video game related but very awesome.
dont quite get your problem with NPR, but as others have said burn through all the past GFW's. If entertainment is what you're after try out Uhh Yeah Dude.
" Weekend Confirmed is pretty good. It is where Garnett Lee is podcasting now he left 1up and is with shacknews. It has humor and unusual/interesting topics. My second favorite next to the bombcast.Mine too, Garnett's probably the best gaming podcast host.

They have some funny features, like "ESBR description theatre" where they read and comment on ESBR descriptions of games and the "homework assignment", where listeners are tasked with doing different creative things videogame related (examples: Pick a game character and write his/hers wedding wovs). I also think Tom Mcshae can be funny, anyway give it a some time and you might grow to like it too.
This is not a "gaming podcast" but if you aren't listening the "Behind the Screened Door" you're missing out. especially since the guys from the bombcast frequently make appearances, not a big movie watcher myself but the banter is still really nice to listen to.
