Pizza workers strike over internet porn

I've just seen this news article on the world wide interwebs, and it brought a smile to my face, so I'll share it with you:

Workers at a pizza-making plant in the Republic of Ireland are set to step up a strike after being sacked for allegedly viewing porn.

Staff at Green Isle Foods in Co Kildare have won cross-union support for their protest.

The Irish Congress of Trade Unions has granted their union, the Technical, Engineering and Electrical Union (TEEU), permission for an all-out picket at the factory in Naas.

The plant may face serious disruption today if other union members, including suppliers and An Post workers, refuse to pass the picket.

The company said three workers lost their jobs after viewing "adult material" and breaching the company's internet policy. But their union claims they are being scapegoated.

"One of our members received an email from outside the plant and was essentially dismissed for receiving an email," said TEEU general secretary designate, Eamon Devoy.

Over 40 workers went on strike last month after the workers lost their jobs.

The TEEU said the sackings were linked to a separate incident when the company sent a confidential file about seven redundancies to a worker by mistake.

It said workers who viewed the file were asked to sign a confidentiality agreement and faced suspension.

The union said it took action because the company would not negotiate a fair disciplinary process

 
To me, this sounds like three young guys bored out of their heads from working at a pizza plant, huddled around a computer screen watching porn on their break. And it's lead to all this strike action, with accusations being thrown back & forth between the unions & the company. It's insane.

I hoped they washed their hand before working.

This begs the question, was the chef watching it too when he put the "sauce" on the pizza? I'll admit it, my mind is broken and cannot be fixed.  :P

And to think I buy their products! They're full of filth!

Green Isle's pizzas are pretty rough. Uncle Pete's by the Franciscan Well is where to go for a good one.

This reminds me of a story I heard here in Northeastern United States. Some woman went to an Olive Garden for dinner, got her food to go and went home to go to sleep. The next morning she woke up and her throat hurt her immensely. She went to the doctor who tested on her throat and found that there was clamidiia in there. The doctor tested the leftovers and found traces of semen on there. 
 
She's now suing them, probably for some obscene amount. Crazy, huh? And seriously, how do you have the time to masturbate during a busy shift on a late night working at a restaurant? Really people? What is happening to humanity?

I question if the workers who were fired were actually fired for that reason or if that was just the final straw that sent them packing.  I suspect that management was looking for a reason to dismiss them.  Maybe they were poor employees or maybe they needed to trim the labor force, whatever, I doubt a pornographic internet email was the sudden cause that put them in the unemployment line.

I don't know what I was expecting with a thread title like this, whatever lay within was sure to come up short of high expectations.

People are so desperate to hold on to their jobs nowerdays they'll do anything. Pretty sad, actualy.

Wait, where does the porn come in? Did the e-mail have a porn movie attachment or was it a sexually tinted Power Point Presentation?

I'd say the management of the company made a huge mistake. E-mail RECEIVED can't be helped until you actually receive it, and then block the sender.
