Even as I write this, a massive outbreak of tornadoes has swept a devastating path of destruction and death starting in Texas and Arkansas and plowed through Mississippi and all the way towards the Carolinas. The total number of fatalities is already over 140 and it is continuing to rise. In Tuscaloosa, Al alone there's up to 37 fatalities and they've hardly begun rescue/cleanup operations. Please keep us in your thoughts/prayers.
Please keep the Southeast in your thoughts/prayers.

I am in East Tennessee, and my car was just destroyed by golf ball sized hail. My wind shield is shattered and both of my tail lights are busted out. My entire car is covered in large dents like a football team went at it with sledge hammers. I have a $500 deductible on my insurance. So there's that money down the drain, plus the question of whether or not my insurance will rise because of the claim. I had to make a large claim two years ago when a deer jumped into the side of my car while I was going 50 mph. I was in a gym at the time, and the sound on the roof was like a freight train. We are quite sure that a tornado was REALLY close for a few minutes. Shit was fucking creepy during the lull in the storm when I drove home. A weird foggy mist was blowing across the ground and the leaves from the trees were turned into mulch, covering everything. The big chunks of ice piled in pools of water made a strange contrast of cold on my feet (i was wearing sandals) and warm, muggy air in my face. The streets were mostly deserted except for the few sirens you could here all around, and many blocks were out of power. Flash floods had hit and I drove through six inches of water running across the road more than once. One was so deep I wasn't sure if my little car was going to make it through, but luckily it did. It was very surreal and dangerous feeling. Like the end of the world.
" Fuck. Didn't know about this. Any news links I can check out? "The Weather Channel

That is some bigot-hearted pile of donkey turd. Let me know where you are from so I can throw some derogatory terms your way. The Apps are a great place and the people that live there are no less people than anyone else. Oh wait, you were only joking. In that case, screw freaking nothern jerks who can't drive and have no sense of courtesy and cornfed midwesterners who are all built like houses (even the women).

" @JJOR64: couldn't get any links but just go to weather.com and they'll be on the main page. The tornado that went through Tuscaloosa was over half mile wide and tore through the middle of the city and went all the way to Birmingham. My parents live in north-central Alabama, and somebody found a checkbook stub from a guy who lives in Mississippi. "Damn. Best of wishes to your family and crazy shit from the paystub.

God damn, my prayers go out to the south. So many people have died in the crazy thing , lets hope the rest of the season is quiet.

" It's really fucked up, and it's worse that the American media is more on the wedding but hey. I'm not the type to pray, but I will be hopeful. Things work out at the end, kid. So smile. I don't smile, so I can't make one of those stupid emotocons. "New Zealand's disaster seemed to get more attention, it is crazy.
