Seriously.
Radiohead: Greatest band of the 21st century?
"Eh... i like to think Velvet Revolver is (or was). But whatever floats your boat i guess "
I would like to say I agree with you, but in retrospect I don't know why I liked Velvet Revolver (aside from their ridiculously badass band name.) Slither was pretty much the only good song.
Guns N' Roses = Unfuckingbelievable
Stone Temple Pilots = Awesome
Guns N' Roses - Axl + Stone Temple Pilots = Ehhhhhh, not so much.

I can't even see how that's called music. If I wanted to hear a man with a droopy face wail, i'd put a nail bomb in a burns ward.
"HandsomeDead said:All kinds. Bruce Springsteen, AFI, Billy Joel, OutKast, Covenant, Tiesto, Silverstein, Alan Silvestri just to name a few i've skipped through on my iTunes and I listened to that Kid A a few times after a friend recommended it and I just can't understand how people listen to it. I just found it annoying more than anything."I can't even see how that's called music. If I wanted to hear a man with a droopy face wail, i'd put a nail bomb in a burns ward."What do you like? And did you listen to more than the first song? Radiohead is very diverse and eclectic."
Kid A is a little different, I'd suggest listening to OK Computer it's a lot less batshit insane.
Radiohead isn't for everyone I guess, but whether or not you like them, you have to respect them. They do different stuff all the time and sound like no other band on Earth.
"Jonathan said:I love Kid A, It's my favorite Radiohead album but it's very different from anything else they have created (with the possible exception of Amnesiac). You could well love Ok Computer , The Bends, or In Rainbows if you gave those albums a listen. Kid A is an electric album while Radiohead's other stuff is alternative rock mixed with a dose of electronic."HandsomeDead said:All kinds. You should listen to this song (listen to the whole song, even if you don't like it, you know more of what Radiohead is like). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m_mMzOQpe0I
Or this song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R5X7HKxpiQA
I'm not a big fan of em, but I do like a few of their songs ("Black Star", "Fake Plastic Trees", "High and Dry", and a couple others that I don't know the names for).
They certainly are different.
Isn't it pretty dam presumptuous to call them that only 8 years into the century?
Also they go their start in the 90s so they aren't even really a 21st century band.
"Isn't it pretty dam presumptuous to call them that only 8 years into the century? They actually started in 86. I wanted to say "21st century (so far)" but it didn't sound as dramatic. And I didn't want to say 20th century due to bands like The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, and Pink Floyd.
Also they go their start in the 90s so they aren't even really a 21st century band."
I wouldn't say they're the best band of the 21st century. In fact, I've never been a big fan of 21st century Radiohead. The Bends was great and OK Computer is one of my favorite albums of all time, but I've been partial to everything they've done since then. Kid A, Amnesiac and Hail to the Thief have their moments, but as whole albums they don't do much for me. In Rainbows, however, is pretty good.
Radiohead is the greatest band of the 1990's. Muse is the greatest band of the 21st century.
Muse started as talented Radiohead clones, but then with their 2001 release onwards they went their own direction, and they are, at least in my opinion, better. It's up for argument whether they are better than Radiohead was in 1997 with OK Computer, but at least so far in the 21st century, nobody can touch songs like Stockholm Syndrome, New Born and Hysteria.

Where the F is Citizen Erased. lol
I don't understand what the hell everyone sees in Radiohead, to be honest. There's a handful of songs I like, but they're style is pretty bland for the most part. Songs rarely stand out.
I like them until Hail to the Thief - every song sounded like "My voice for every song is that going to have a breakdown any second" a la Korn. Is Rainbows different from Thief?
