Russian Hockey Team RIP

So I don't think this was posted, but this is grim news to the hockey world.

The private jet of the Russian Hockey team Lokomotiv Yaroslavl crashed into a river killing 43 people including several NHL stars.

This is devastating news and my heart goes out to the friends and families of the fallen. I just hope that the nation will be able to regroup from this tragedy and continue their excellence in hockey.

As a huge hockey fan and a Canadian, I must say that the rivalry between these two nations have produced the best moments of hockey the world has ever seen.

Saw this earlier on the Wikipedia front page, RIP.

That's horrible. I'm crushed as a hockey fan.

About once every week or two it seems like I keep hearing about some NHL guys dieing, but that many all at once... man. Heart goes out to the family and friends.

Reminds me of that book Alive. The one with the Spanish people going to Chile to play soccer and the plane crashed on a snowy mountain. That book is sad.

Absolutely awful, AWFUL summer for hockey. Three former/current players die and now this. 
 
They're talking about getting every team in the KHL to give up one player so that Lokomotiv Yaroslavl can have a season.

Horrible news, and it just felt surreal to read about.

Yeah, Stefan Liv is really the only one I know of them, but it's horrible stuff alright.

Absolutely tragic. Even more tragic is that Pavel Demitria (sic) was on that plane. He was a former STL Blue player and is now dead.

Horrible news. This has to be the worst flying accident in years, right? I always imagined flying on a private jet was more secure than flying on regular plane. I guess I was wrong :(.

Didn't hear about it until I saw it on Wikipedias front page. Sounds pretty bad.

It's so sad. I remember growing up watching guys like Demitra, McCrimmon, Salei, and Skrastins play while growing up. But don't just think about the NHL alumni. Think of all of the KHL players and flight crew who also died too. And also think of the many wives of these players, and the children who will grow up fatherless.

What a terrible summer hockey. Boogey man, Rypien, Belak, and now this too.

I can't speak for sure about this, but someone I know said that it's best to avoid any Russian news videos you might stumble upon. My friend claimed that it's not like what we get here in the US. He said he saw severely burnt bodies and moaning of people in complete agony. That was enough to keep me away. The text alone is awful enough.

Fucking hell. Terrible.

I can't believe someone would get these 47 passengers onto a plane that had been banned for being unsafe. That is so fucked up. If what you said is true, I can't possibly imagine what the loved ones of the victims are going through right now. Somebody has to take responsibility for this. It's not fair :(
