Should i buy a ps2

if i bought one it would be for nostolgia, i sold my last one because i needed the money at the time, how available do you think the games are?? 
and if i bought one it would be refurbished and my local (and only ) store i am near sells them for 40-50$ is that worth it?)

I still think its a great console, I wouldn't want it to be my main console (nor would I personally use any non-current console as my "main") but I have played a lot of my PS2 lately. I recently picked up Silent Hill 2 for the first time, ive been playing some of "The Mark of Kri", "The Red Star", "Final Fantasy XII" and "Zone of the Enders" too. Its a great console, a great collection of available games with most available at reasonable.

Although its not PS2 the next game I am looking to (re)buy is the original Metal Gear Solid which I owned when I was younger but barely played since I couldn't play stealth games.

I would. The PS2 has a nice back catalog of games that you can probably get for like $5 each. For $200 you could get a lot of months worth of games to play.

If you have no alternative for playing PS2 games, then absolutely yes. You don't say no to one of the finest console libraries gaming has ever seen.

yeah, you should buy it if you want to play something. sony is starting to release remakes of ps2 games to ps3 games. i think it would be a while for what ever game you want to come out.

If you haven't watched the endurance run , you should pick up a ps2 and persona 4. Will last you like a hundred hours if not more.

PS2 is always a good choice! It has a solid library of games, many of those being exceptional titles, and it's backwards compatible with the original Playstation. At 50 bucks for the actual machine, you cannot go wrong. Some of my favorite games for the console? Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3, God of War, and many.... MANY more. One of the greatest game consoles ever, in my humble opinion.
