I'm looking for a nice pair of skull candy in-ear headphones. I currently have the ink'd buds. Which are nice in that they really cut down on external noise, making them ideal for listening to them in a vehicle or crowded room. However they lack the attached remote with mic that I absolutely love on my apple brand headphones, they like to fall out..... all of the time, and the coating on the wires is very cheap and has a tendency to grip to anything that it rubs up against, which leads to the annoying falling out issue.
From what I can see the 50/50s, Asyms, Smoking buds (I have tried a friends and they seem kinda weak on the noise cancelling department) and the Titans all have the features I'd like. The reviews are all fairly positive so i doubt I can go wrong, but I was wondering if the GB community had any recommendations?
Skull Candy Earbuds you would reccomend?
I had smoking buds, but like most skull candies, they work decently but are really fragile. If anything, I'd go with the most expensive ones
I still want to get Beats by Dre :P
My ink'd have almost none of those problems. They DID fall out so I swapped the little in-ear parts and it stays in.
But I do miss the built-in mic...
A nice pair of Skull Candy headphones is an oxymoron. Sorry if that's harsh but it's very true, they're much more about style than performance. I've had the Smoking Buds earbuds (mostly for the red/yellow/green) and they were pretty terrible. They also broke within two weeks : / Whats the budget for these new headphones? That will greatly narrow my suggestions.
I currently own the Ink'd, and I don't have any problems with. I think it's a pretty decent brand for the price. I'm looking into getting the Hesh pair.
Other than that, I haven't really tried any other pairs.
Skull Candy is the Hot Topic of the audio world. Mediocre quality, yet extremely overpriced because you're paying for a popular brand.
NuForce NE-6, they're the same at the NE-7 but without a mic which is just there for a cell. NE-8 is more rounded but the bass has less punch to it and it's also $30 more.
If you're willing to pay ~$50 for Skull Candy earbuds, I would honestly recommend these Klipsch earbuds. They're up there in price but they offer sound quality you'd pay easily 4 times more to get. Other good brands would be Etymotic, Audio Technica, Sennheiser, and Grado.

Eh Skull Candy kinda sucks, they're waaay overpriced for the quality, and they're just cheap headphones with flashy colors for the kids. I've seen my friends have their Skull Candys break quickly on them, and I bought a pair of the buds once cause mine broke mid-vacation, and those didn't last 2 months. Sound quality sucks too. Loudness and bass does not equal quality.

When I was in the states, I found a few pairs of their Full Metal Jackets for $20 at Marshalls, where they usually go for $80 here. Really great pair. I would say they were worth it if they still offered lifetime guarantees and sent you a new pair free of charge when yours crapped out on you, which I don't think they do anymore sadly.
If you can find them on the cheaper side, I would say go for it.
I own a cheap pari of skull candy earbuds that I bought at Best Buy for 20 bucks and they sound great.
" Skull Candy is the Hot Topic of the audio world. Mediocre quality, yet extremely overpriced because you're paying for a popular brand. "That analogy makes absolutely no sense. Hot Topic is a "specialty" store and not really over priced unless you are talking about their "goth" pants and junk. Also "Bose" is more of an expensive brand with mediocre quality, way more so than Skull Candy. Skull Candy just appeals to younger audiences due to their style.
Go Sennheiser.
" @Th3_James: Those headphones are mad expensive, and not what the average consumer is looking to get. Just out of curiosity, are you a recording artist yourself? "No I am not, but I listen to a lot of music, and need my low frequency bass and crisp highs. I am paying $190 Canadian cash. They are $350 american retail, so I'm getting a good deal from a friend. I have used the Dre Studio Beats over 150 hours in less than a month of borrowing them from my friend. They sound great through my laptop, Iphone, and 5.1 receiver listening to anything; bombcasts, Endurance Runs, Lossless audio, DTS audio.
I listen to a variety of genres to, and they performed better than the Bose Quiet Comfort 3 IMO. I tested them out listening to rap, rock, jazz, metal, industrial, hip hop, reggae, techno, classical, and some pop songs I like.
