Sure, they'll take back "your" home (the one you gave them a 10% down payment on and agreed to pay the rest back over 30 years)..but they're not going to whip you. Force you to work 12 hours a day and give you substandard food. Separate you from your children.
So lets say you default and get evicted. You're done then. Sure your credit is bad for 7 years..but that can be fixed. You can still live with bad credit.
The process from stopping payment to eviction takes some time too. There are chances to get help and other options (like a short sale). Its just completely different than being owned by someone.
