I've got to say, it's alot more epic and ambitious than it's predecessing film. Definately worth the price, even if it is a bit too long.

EDIT: I know this isn't much of a "review" I was just sharing my general thoughts about the film, so please forgive my brief thoughts.

Indeed it did. I think I made a mistake posting my mad spoiler blog yesterday night, US aint seen it yet, and thus haven't read it.

So yeah, I wrote my thoughts on it in a blog, they summarised to this:
Good:
Devastator
Bad:
Gangsta Transformers
Michael Bay is still 13.

Sounds typical. I will probably be dragged to see it because all my friends love it but I will do so reluctantly. I really can't stand Michael Bay's stupidity sometimes.

What's wrong with giant robots kicking the shit out of each other and massive amounts of destruction and explosions?  We PRAISE that in the video game industry.  What makes it so bad in the movie industry?

So the story might be shallow and the acting isn't INCREDIBLE Oscar-worthy stuff.  IT'S TRANSFORMERS!!!  The main focus is about giant robots, destruction, and explosions.  End of story.

Does it deliver that stuff?  Yes.  Does Michael Bay throw in a super hot ass chick for extra eye candy?  Yes.  Therefore, the movie is an auto-win.

Seriously, how can people praise Crank (which I love the shit out of that movie) but then get pissed off about Transformers?  Welcome to stupid fun, people!!!

I'll save TF2 for when I want  both my senses and intelligence punished for 3 hours straight. I also want to ad that when I was a kid, I had mad transformers and my little story lines, while facilitating  a theater for action, were far more riveting than what Bay and company have been tossing together. I was 8.

I can't believe people point out Megan Fox as a positive part of the movie just because of her looks. Freaking sexism and disrespect up to the max.

I, personally, feel bad that this woman is playing a role meant for eye candy.

Eddie Murphy in Daddy Day Care > Chris Tucker in anything.  Then again, Chris Tucker and his shitty style of "comedy" annoy the FUCK out of me.  Anything that sounds like the illegitimate love child of a yelling hyena and Bobcat Goldthwaite with a different pigmentation and none of Bobcat's weight can fuck right off.  Also, I am by no means saying that Eddie Murphy has been worth anything in the last 15 years.  It was just the first example of shittiness that came to my head (even though I secretly love that movie).

Meanwhile, Michael Bay doesn't have a lot of great stuff under his belt.  Hell, he doesn't have anything good under his belt other than Transformers.  Shia Labeouf, on the other hand, doesn't get enough credit.  I point to The Greatest Game Ever Played and A Guide To Recognizing Your Saints as prime examples of his acting skill.  Nonetheless, he's not an idiot and knows how to collect a paycheck just like everyone else.

Plus, since when did anything related to Transformers have GOOD acting?

I will not deny that there is some fun to be had in Transformers but I think the fact that I don't really like the film is because I just don't like Michael Bay. The bastard is so full of himself that any interview or feature I see with him makes my head hurt. I will not (and cannot) deny the hotness of Megan Fox or how the action scenes are amazing to look at but I just don't really like the extreme cheese and brainlessness that is apparent. I don't know, I know video games get by with it just fine but it probably is due to the fact that the best action video games (COD4 will be an example) have amazing, realistic action that is like a movie, while movies just need to be more than that. Like I said, I find parts of the movie (Transformers) pretty awesome but I just despise Bay so that is probably the reason for my hate. = /

Michael Bay has nothing under his belt except a bunch of movies that suggest he very literally has nothing under his belt and he needs to compensate. Some people drive Dodge Magnums or get a hair plug. He makes lousy bombastic mess's out of even the simplest concepts.

Which brings me to the Transformers cartoon. Sure there's nothing deep about a bunch of robots duking it out over energon cubes and the fate of mankind (which you saw very little of in the series BTW) which is why perhaps these movies shouldn't have been made. In the cartoon, Sam was a geek who was a good mechanic and whats her face was good at computers (if I remember correctly), but the characters in these movies lack any useful qualities. Its like the fate of the world hinges on a bimbo and a douchebag, and their inexplicable relationship with robots who adapt some of humans lousiest personality traits.

This is just my opinion, of course.

@Sprizmo: Sir, as I've found in most of real life, the fate of anyone or anything hinges on a bimbo and a douchebag.  Why?  They're the only ones considered important enough for people to listen to, even though they're retarded as all Hell.

RHCP, I understand what you mean about Michael Bay.  I mean, for fuck's sake, the guy made PEARL HARBOR!!!  What a tragedy of a film.  Nonetheless, he also happens to be very good at one thing:  blowing shit up.  When it comes to Transformers, that's what I'm going to the movie for:  to watch shit get blown up in crazy spectacular ways.  That's why we all watched the cartoon series.  We wanted to see giant robots that we thought were cool blowing shit up and kicking each other's ass.  Did anyone actually give a FUCK about the humans?  I didn't!  Therefore, I don't see why people make a big deal out of them.  As long as John Turturro is in there somewhere giving me a laugh once in a while, and Megan Fox is standing there looking hot, then I see a bunch of giant robots kick each other's fucking metallic grills in, then I'm set.

Transformers is about escapism.  The best part is that Michael Bay KNOWS that!  Sure, the guy is a pompous arrogant ass, but so is Quentin Tarantino, and everyone loves his retarded ass.  Bay knows that all you need in a Transformers movie is explosions, robot fights, a hottie to look at, some dimwit fucktard of a dood that gets the girl because nerds need confidence that Megan Fox will hook up with them, and of course...the voice of Optimus Prime.

So unless those aspects just aren't present at all in Revenge of the Fallen, I'm just unclear about how this movie could be B-A-D.  Is it "bad"?  Sure.  The first one was as well.  However, just because something is "bad" doesn't mean it sucks.  Just because it's mindless fun doesn't mean it's stupid.

I don't know.  Maybe I just understand the idea of escapism at a cinema more than some...or maybe I've just got a hard-on for destruction in cinema.

I would agree that Michael Bay is not a Stanley Kubrick by far, the only other films I've seen which were Directed by him were: Transformers, The Island, Armageddon.

I didn't really think much of all three of the films, but I did enjoy Transformers more so. However he gives me what I came to see, robots blowing this shit out of each and it looking fantastic at the same time. Sure the humans were fairly trivial and we could've all done with a little less ass-humour coming from Shia La Beouf as well as the other human cast members. The only real complaint I had about the Transformers, was the "gangsta" robots, they didn't really bring any smart comedy to the movie at all, all they seemed to rely on was pussy jokes to put it blatently, and a "hip" attitude. If Michael Bay is able to possibly work less on the human character development, and more on the relationship between the Deceptecons and Autobots rivalry, then the Transformers series could become greater than it already is. When I say, "greater than it already is", I'm not saying this film is up there with classic all-time loved films, what I'm saying is that it would become alot more awesome to watch.

I do agree with alot of the points you make, and all the aspects you talk about pretty much do make a good action movie, which is pretty much all Transformers sets out to as well as NEEDS to be.

Michael Bay also directed the Bad Boys movies (which are awesome), The Rock (which I personally didn't dig), and Pearl Harbor...which is one of the most atrocious pieces of "cinema" ever created.
