anyone knows what the crap that thing is? a lot of girls are obsessed with that, also some gay dudes are only talking about it, so, anyone knows?

It's a TV show designed to cash in on the 'high schools are a hotbed for spontaneous musical outbursts' trend. That being said, I don't actually mind it that much, but I do have a penchant for slightly trashy summer viewing.

Glee isn't terrible, it's even watchable.

"Glee Club" is such a terrible name for any club. Thought it was a name used only in the 70's when the Brady Bunch spent an entire episode about one. The fact that there are clubs that are still called that, is sad.

I saw a clip of a cover of one of those 80s rock ballads (Don't Stop Believin) and thought, "if this is irony or parody, it isn't bad", then I discovered it is serious and now I don't know what to think.

I ended up watchin an episode of glee with my girl, it actually was pretty decent, I can see why people like it I suppose.
 
It has some good comedy and makes fun of itself subtly, so its not bad.

I believe it's a stupid musical show...I tried watching it once and it was just another awful modern tv show.

It's some pretty quality music for a tv show.

It really is a satire of "High School Musical". The show is more of a comedy then anything else. I generally stop paying attention during the singing parts.
 
Kills 45minutes at work, so eh something to do.

I just don't like it when people go around calling themselves Gleeks if they are a fan of the show. It had a way different meaning when I was a kid.

I think it's pretty good, watched it with a friend for the last few weeks.

Just gonna say it: I. Love. Glee. 
 
For those comparing it to High School Musical, the only thing it has in common with it is the fact it's setting is high school and there's some singing sometimes. Otherwise it's totally different. I also find that the show is pretty self aware. They've made a show with totally stereotypical characters, but the actors and dialog make them very likable. Also, the story lines are just ridiculous enough to make for fun viewing. And so you get great moments like this...

It's okay.  I think it's pretty over-rated though.  I think the comedic segments are great, but the musical numbers don't really do it for me.  

The drama is so ridiculous its funny, at least to me, the music is also not so bad.

The G. Lee? Yeah, I can tell you all about it.

Anybody who compares this to other "high school" shows/movies like The OC, Twilight and High School Musical clearly has never watched an episode of Glee.  They all do their own singing and a lot of them have done on/off Broadway work(and some of them stars like Lea Michele and Matthew Morrison).

I haven't seen an episode yet, however I've heard people say it has very smart dialog.  I think it's written by the same folks who did FX's Nip/Tuck.  There's music too obviously, but the show gets mediocre ratings averaging around 7 million viewers per episode ( source).   Half those of hits like Bones and House.  I think it might get another year if ratings seem to improve and the thought that word of mouth is encouraging new viewers.  However, the show is on FOX and they have a notorious record of canceling shows early do to lackluster ratings (Arrested Development, Futurama, Firefly, etc...)
