From Amazon...

The dictionary is of course for my Japanese class. The book "Looking for the Lost" is something I wanted to read. Mainly because I want to learn more about Japan and apparently the book is about the author's 2,000 mile trip. Just because I like Japan does not mean I want to be one of "those" people. I am going to separate myself as far as possible from them. Like the girl in my class that wore a kimono to class yesterday. (Facepalm...) Lastly, Battlefield: Bad Company because: (1) I've heard good things, (2) I sort of enjoyed Battlefield 2: Modern Combat, and (3) I needed a game to play.

From Mitsuwa... (Japanese market.)

  • Well it's not something I bought, but I did turn in my application.
  • Another thing I didn't buy, but I relished my time sneaking looks at gorgeous Asian women in the market.
  • Yan Yan. Those little breadsticks that you dip in chocolate or strawberry. I got one of each. $2.60
  • A pastry made to look like a panda. In the center is chocolate with a pudding consistency. $1.45
  • A cinnamon and raisin pastry. $1.45
  • Some Green Tea bags. I believe the box holds 20. $5.50
  • Something the guy called a "Matcha Matcha." I believe that was the name. It has Green Tea ice cream blended with milk, etc. Topped with whipped cream and some Green Tea syrup. Pretty delicious. $2.60 + $0.40 tip

Finally, a video for you all to enjoy.

Edit: Not sure if anybody else is having problems, but YouTube is really slow today. So the video might not show up until a bit later...

I don't think you should worry too much about being too obsessed.  Only Kaos really has problems with Japanophiles (among other things).  Just be yourself, and really learn about Japan.

Cool man. Japanese is quite an interesting language even if you don't want to be a crazy gaijin. I never took a class for japanese but have taught myself some basic stuff so I knew something when I went on vacation.

haha, oh man.  Just make sure you don't become delusional because then you won't be able to tell once you've gone to the other side.  Maybe once you're the one wearing a robe or something, but then it'll be too late.

@Deathdealer108: Any foreigner is a Gaijin, so there's no way around that, but who cares? It was quite odd when I went during the christmas break. Tall, dark and I wouldn't really call myself handsome, but I definitely got giggles and such and more than a few people trying to start a conversation... And lots of stares.

@ahriman22: Yeah your right. I guess I'm just talking about those people that are incredibly obsessed with the japanese culture. There are two girls on my bus that sing japanese songs and they only talk about anime.  I went last summer and my family and I stayed in Tokyo. My Dad is incredibly tall and he learned quickly to watch out for low hanging signs. Except for that and like you said the occasional stare most people were very friendly to us and I really was happy I went.

@Deathdealer108: They are nice, but forget meeting the parents... Seriously.

I went there last summer for 3 months and since I was staying with my Asian friends and goign out with them, it was all good. I met a girl who spoke crazy good English and it developed from there. One day she took me to meet you parents and shit broke loose. They welcome me fine, but I could see in their eyes that they were wary of me.

Anyways, after dinner they took her aside and a fight broke out (Including throwing things around the house) and we left and got hellah drunk. Good times...

Oh and the people you are talking about would be called; Fangirls, Weaboos, Wapanese and crazy bitches.

The second to last one in that video was awesome, partly because I used to play that.

I remember the good old days of Japanese class.  I had to sink more time into it than all of my other classes combined... and I was a biochem major.  Good times.
