Truly this is the darkest moment in human history and we should all come together in remembrance of the greatest website ever.
The Boohbah Zone is No More
I have the .swf file if there is an easy way / okay for me to host it....
Also other websites that don't care about fancy things like copyrights have it hosted on there.
BOOH BAH WILL NEVER DIE
@franticrain: Thanks Frantic. Between this and your Taco Bell journey you've quickly become one of my favourite duders.
Dan may have killed it by featuring it on GB. A bunch of duders probably went there and increased the hosting bill. If this is true I think Dan should be called The Boobah Assassin.
:(
Get your bootleg zone on:
:D
Destroying the homeland of the Boobahs is only the beginning of Dan Ryckert's monstrous campaign. Save us John Drake! You're our only hope!

Alright who's been slipping LSD into my beverage?
@franticrain: Is it just me or or does this seem slightly different than the original boohbah zone, something about the mini games seems off.
I played this game in high school. What a weird surprise that was to see it on UPF. I thought it was a fever dream.

@katpottz: Thats just the swf I was given. I have no particular connection to the Zone.

Oh awesome!
This version does have a different background image as it loads - a desert instead of a cityscape. I think they may be 2 different versions.
The one I saved that is hosted on jefflr.moe is from June 2003.
When was this on UPF?
Same UPF as Thunder In Paradise Interactive. It's one of the best UPFs ever except for the Drew segment which goes on way too long.
When was this on UPF?
September 4th, this year and the time stamp is at 1:19:48. Great episode, check out all the Thunder in Paradise CD-i footage too.
Dang, got beat because I bothered to get that time stamp!

I registered boohbahzone.com because i was surprised it was available and I have to make bad domain decisions every few years. You mind if I forward that to danryckert.eu?
Currently it's a redirect loop because I have no idea what i'm doing. But I think I can figure out how to forward it.
@thegrimace: Sure, go right ahead. I can spare the bandwidth.

Done. Thanks!
Fun jefflr.moe stats:
Page has been up for less than 3 days and has had 2113 hits with 1738 uniques. The link has migrated to SomethingAwful, NeoGAF, Twitter, Facebook, Twitch, Nintendorks and Gaming Masters.
This blows anything else hosted on my@therealtakeshi's (the generous benefactor) server, including Jeff's Mixlr auto-archives http://jefflr.moe/archive (stream rips) and http://jefflr.moe/jeffreel (surfaces download links from official mixlr archives).
You're all monsters.
Over the past 21 months that I've hosted the Boohbah Zone, there's some interesting and surprising uses of the Boohbah zone. The site gets between 5000 and 8000 visitors per month. While most of the visitors seem to type in the name directly, most visitors do seem to come from Giant Bomb, Reddit and NeoGAF. However, it seems like it is also still being used as an "educational" tool. There's several referrals from .edu domain startpages. Several months ago, while moving the boohbah zone to a new server, I had appended a small notice regarding the move to the page. I was contacted by a parent whose disabled daughter liked to play with the Boohbah Zone using the Eagle Eyes Eye controlled mouse. Apparently the message was interfering with her use of the site. To my surprise the app was actually listed on their site, together with an overview of all the activities. "This is one of the best cause and effect websites we have found." Good stuff!
Now on to the bad news. While I can continue to host DanRyckert.eu, the universe seems to be throwing another roadblock in the way of the continued existence of the Boohbah Zone. Google will start disabling Flash in Chrome before the end of the year, and Firefox will follow suit shortly after. Because the Boohbah Zone is a flash applet, it will stop working in your browser once this change goes through. I looked into ways to preserve the Boohbah Zone for future "flashless" generations, but it's not looking good. I found some tools to convert Flash games to HTML5, but most of these tools only support apps built with ActionScript 3. The Boohbah Zone, being an old ass applet, was made using ActionScript 2, so I didn't have much luck.
If someone wants to make a coordinated effort in rebuilding the Boohbah zone in HTML5, I'm more than willing to help, but my time is limited. I have created a Github repository with the (decompiled) assets, which can be found here in case anybody wants to take a crack at building something new: https://github.com/Ganonmaster/BoohbahZone
I was able to use Ganonmaster's repo to import the files and begin work on a WIP HTML5 boohbah zone conversion.
Mostly having to do manual translation of AS2 into javascript / actionscript 3 that adobe animate CC uses. Some parts need completely rebuilt. Also trying to make it work on touchscreens which the original is not designed for.
WIP here: http://boohbah.grovermind.com/
Will commit back to the repo sooner or later, or if other people want to contribute work there let me. I'm pretty slow, but i dont want to fool around with git unless there are actual other collaborators. Also Adobe Animate CC is a ripoff and i should not be paying for it, even tho i am.
