Oh Hi!
I'm sure some of us here like to listen to the most badass form of music so why not share our recent finds with others, eh?

Here's what I've been listening to lately.

Man, the last minute of that song is insane.

  Also a great-great song.

I prefer deathcore to actual death metal, so I won't post here. I feel like I won't be wanted :)

Im extremely picky when it comes to straightforward death metal, but ye, its awesome, it's scientifically proven to make your facial hair grow faster when you listen to it [citation needed]

This is by far the best death metal cd of 2010 for me, highly HIGHLY recommend it, as well as their previous album, "Who Linger"

Here's another great pick from 2010, Red Shore - The Avarice of Man

>death metal
>good
pick one

on a more serious note. i must say you go from one end to another with those two video. personally i wouldn't connct gojira at all with death metal. death is the shit though if you're into that kind of thing. also before this turn into a lynching let me just clarify that i rarely listen to death metal, and when i do it's most of the time very much ironically. also autopsy is awesome.

just to add to the conversation i'll say that pig destroyer is probably the one band i listen to regularly which is the most like death metal. other than that i tend to be more into stuff that could be considered "core", like cock and ball torture,  old napalm death, agoraphobic nosebleed and the like. i don't really believe in core though. the term just has hipster written all over it.

You sound like a fan of grind. Which, as a fan of grind, I respect damnit.

I find all the "core" and "grind" styles ridiculous myself, but there's no need to turn this into a fight topic.

Post whatever extreme metal you like then. From crazy industrial to grindcores and whatnots.
Black metal is very welcome too.
And Melodic Death Metal is especially welcome.

But lets try not to forget what this thread was built to do. Bring death metal to the people!

Pig Destroyer - Piss Angel (grind i guess. fast as all hell. nevermind the video, it makes me cringe.)

Lurker Of Chalice - Piercing Where They Might (depressive black metal. my fav black metal album.)

Boris - Naki Kyoku (stoner metal from japan. chill as fuck.)

There's a few differant genres. I say at least give boris a shot. they're so god damn cool. and wata is the sexiest lady with a guitar.

I tend to lean towards power metal like Hammerfall/Avantasia or crazy emotional stuff like Otep, but I can appreciate some bands of the genre.

Gorod is my favorite recent tech death band. Ares Kingdom had a solid release last year.I thought the new Atheist and Autopsy albums were good despite mindless criticism by people who don't know what they're talking about.  More of an old school Morbid Angel, Obituary fan myself.

  Good deathcore.

Bad deathcore. Very, very bad deathcore. Brings the lulz though.

  pretty good live too....

The lack of Black Metal makes me sad.

But I kind of grew out of metal a long time ago, which annoys me somewhat.
I now generally listen to anything with crazy time signatures and complex rhythms.
And Black Metal.

Lots of good stuff in this thread! Personally, I have mostly been listening to folk metal these days.

EDIT: someone already posted that song, so I'll post one of my favorites

It's probably a little too upbeat for this thread though :P

While the title of the topic clearly says 'Death Metal', there's actually little Death Metal here.

So, the three most impressive Death Metal bands that came me out 'recently':

  Mental Horror, from Brazil.

  Obliteration, from Norway.

  Portal, from Australia.

@raphaa00: Portal is some crazy shit. When I first heard it was nighttime and I was in bed listening to my iPod. Goddang nearly scared the crap outta me.
Really speaks about the music, when it makes you feel so insecure and uncomfortable. It's still hard to listen, but I quite enjoy it now.

You should check The Axis Of Perdition. Their music has all those chilling effects that scare.

Curioulsy, their second album is based on the Silent Hill series of video-games.

I've been listening to a lot of Hypocrisy lately. The Arrival is such an insanely catchy album. It might be a bit too melodic for death metal purists, but damn if it isn't awesome. The whole "alien abduction" theme they got going on lyrically is pretty cool too. You don't get that too often in death metal.
