The Official FIFA World Cup 2010 discussion thread

Tomorrow should be a good game. I want Germany to win, since I've been a supporter of them since last year's world cup (not sure how I began cheering for them). But seeing Spain go to the finals would guarantee that either of the finalist will have their first taste of the world cup trophy. 
 
How does everyone else feel about the outcome of this particular game?

As a Uruguay supporter I feel like the team gave it all they got, but alas the result was fair enough as the better team won. I wouldn't mind seeing the Netherlands win the  whole thing. I think Germany v Netherlands is going to be the final. The Spanish haven't impressed me thus far so id be surprised if they won, who knows though maybe they'll pull something for this game and play amazingly. Crazier things have happened.

German defense has been pretty great.

Not as exciting a match so far as I had anticipated from these two.

Spain playing possession ball does not help the pacing of the game. -_-

Spain are crap. If they fluke a goal then not only this game, but the final will be ruined too.

Spain has won!  Germany played poorly.

Germany either played poorly, were outplayed by posession or had the wrong tactics. 
 
Either way, Spain was the better team in this match. Meh. I'm disappointed in Germany.

Spain played better. Now my interest in the World Cup has plummeted.

Disappointing game by Germany but I'm pleased with Spain's win.

Spain will beat Holland.

If they do lose, it will be by Penalty series.

Disappointing. Germany deserved to lose that one but I don't think Spain really deserved to win it. Boring tactics from a boring side, though they've been winning so I can't argue so much.

Wanted Germany to win but they looked horrible, a deserving loss. That game should have been 3 or 4 to 0.

I totally loathe soccer, but I would have killed to see Holland vs Germany, most dutchies would have!
 
Anyway I'm watching sunday, I'm actually excited for soccer for the first time in my life but then again I guess the whole Netherlands is!

Holland just needs to win so we can party!

Its going to be a good final but i hate both teams. 

I don't mind who wins now. The two teams I definitely didn't want to win (Germany and Uruguay) both lost so I'm happy already. Should be a good final because both teams have a chance of winning thier first ever World Cup. 

Holland better score an early goal otherwise Spain will fucking bore and infuriate me to death.

Oh and I have to say: I have NEVER seen such a fair match so far in a tournament. There was not one yellow card! You could say they were too cautious now but I think it's a sign of class and respect if you don't need fouls. I was quite impressed by that. I'm sure Van Bommel does not share that opinion with me :D "

Are you guys on crack? If spain played like that in the premiership they would get booed. It's easy to keep posession if you never commit attackers and all you make are side and backpasses. At least when germany get the ball they tried to score goals.  
 
And as for this being a fair match, germany's players could have dived in so many places and got free kicks with the way spain were hounding them, but they didn't. No wonder people dive if refs don't give fouls just because you stayed on your feet.

I was supporting Germany until last night. I don't mind who wins the final on Sunday.

so glad Spain won, they deserved it, they crushed Germany, that's what they get for being so defensive, I'm so excited for the final, finally we'll see a new WC Champion! I'm going with Spain, Holland has been playing shit but have been lucky.

This game needs an early Holland goal. Otherwise it might just be about as boring as the Germany - Spain game.
