What text conversion doesn't include smiley faces these days? We've all seen and used them before, and....I HATE THEM!
 
Although I sometimes use smiley faces, it really bothers me when people fill their posts with them.
 
ex1: I LOVE JEFF :D AND VINNNY :) 4 LIFE 8)
 
ex2- I get X error message :( in y game :( :(! HELP GUYZ :( :( :( :( :( :( :(
 
The former just bothers me, but the latter makes me pity/feel sorry for the person, and the fact that they need to spam frownie faces because they are too helpless to do anything themselves (or even explain their problem coherently without smilies everywhere).

I find "lol" is far more notoriously overused in text conversations, there are people way too many people out there who seem to think "lol" is the equivalent of a full stop :( .

It's a habit but it's only annoying when the person isn't actually laughing and/or they have nothing else to say when they're replying. "

Don't get me wrong, in instant messaging or text conversations I'll use "lol" a fair bit, my problem only comes when people will try and pack as many "lol"s into a conversation as possible with little to no real reason to do so. "

The only "smileys" i use are ¬_¬ and :\ And i usually use them on their own because they are basically speechless faces. Sometimes ... dosnt convey the right feelings about my speechlessness. Sometimes ill use :O in "oh shit" moments. Again, on its own, not part of a sentence. I dont mind when people use :) at the end of a sentence that seems hostile, it helps to distinguish sarcasm where it isnt always obvious. Almost all other uses annoy me though.
