The prized possession thread had alot of people express how much they love their guitars. I though that there should be a place to show them off on GB, as even non-players can appreciate the beauty of a well crafted instrument. So get to it!

A banjo isn't really a guitar, so I wont post a picture of it I guess.

@nintendoeats: Kinda weird you got two of the same type. An acoustic totally makes sense though next to an electric.

Hurray for beginner guitars. Since I never have a chance to really turn up anyway I'll wait til I get something better.

@StaticFalconar: Oh shit, you have a Jay Turser as well! Those are the worst guitars...I have one that I have mangled, I'll get a shot of it in the morning.

You're not wrong, my guitars are sort of redundant. They do sound distinct though, and I could never get rid of one.

@IcySandman: I really like that. I'm pretty hit or miss with Ibanez, but they do their own version PRS thing very well.

I buy cheap guitars and do terrible things to them. Things that shouldn't be chronicled on camera.

@nintendoeats: I've had 2 so far, what I've liked is they fair much better than other guitars at their price and usually work for metal music, but I haven't tried like a 1,000$ guitar before so my opinion's kinda limited D:

I'm considering getting either an Ibanez (SGE130), an Epiphone (Masterbilt AJ-500M), a Seagull (S6 GT) or a Blueridge (BG-40) guitar for my next acoustic which I'd like to buy in the next few months. All those guitars would be a step up from the one I'm using (an Epiphone DR-100 which I've pretty much destroyed in the years I've owned it).

I'm leaning towards the Ibanez because of its price: I'm a heavy handed guy and I don't want to constantly have to worry about taking care of it and/or slowly destroying it as I use it (although I'd probably replace the pickup with a LR Baggs M1a so it will sound okay amplified).

I bought a shitty guitar like four years ago and took lessons for a year and then stopped playing. It has a broken string now, but it doesn't matter because I never play it.

This is my Jay Turser, Also my first guitar. As you can see I have a deep respect for the well-being of this instrument. Actually, I lent it to somebody who didn't take care of things and that's why all of the stickers are scratched up. His picking motion was...unrefined...

@armaan8014: I really like the decoration around the sound hole, it contrasts the black finish nicely. Does it look sticker-ish up close?
@cnlmullen: Are you going with sunburst for sure? I personally can't stand sunburst. Actually, I would also never buy a guitar over the internet (got to play it first).

Mine is cheap and simple, but the sound is all that matters and it's perfectly fine, never cared for people who get all elitist about guitars.

@Raymayne: I completely agree, the sound is the most important thing. But having a guitar that you like the look of is also valuable for several reasons, not the least of which is that performing live is visual as well as auditory. Its also just more fun to play a guitar that you love!

But anyway does your guitar sound as good as...

Nice. I have a mandolin that looks ok until you get up close and realize that the sound hole just a s a big plastic label under the finish. Not flattering.

@nintendoeats:
The switch on the top of the guitar is to turn on the 'rhythm circuit', which uses only the neck pick-up and has it's own volume and tone controls.  The 3 switches at the bottom are 'bass inhibitor' on/off, neck pick-up on/off and bridge pick-up on/off.  these three use the chrome volume and tone knobs.

I don't like sunburst if the gradient is too sharp / the contrast is too pronounced. I'm leaning more towards a dark violin sunburst with the SGT130 -- I like how it looks. Darker colors match my clothing style / complexion better than traditional tan (I'd never buy a solid black guitar because I associate that with country -- I play fingerstyle folk).  Also, I've played all these models in various stores, which is why I'm considering buying them (the local stores here price match websites, so unless the store model has taken a real beating I'll buy it there).
