Tony Scott Has Died

Hollywood director Tony Scott, brother of Ridley Scott, has passed away through an apparent suicide. He jumped off a bridge in California but survived the fall but later died from the injuries sustained from the fall. Tony Scott directed movies such as Top Gun, Crimson Tide, True Romance, Man on Fire and Unstoppable amongst many other action films.

UPDATE: Tony Scott had been recently diagnosed with inoperable brain cancer before his death.

Thinking of "Enemy of the State" the most, a strange tribute to "The Conversation" and one of the most manic movies in terms of editing I've ever seen. That guy had style to spare. Really surprised in that terrible way about this whole thing.

This is truly terrible news. While I may not have seen many of Mr. Scott's movies, Top Gun and Man on Fire are great films. RIP

Damn...Wow! This came out of nowhere. What a terrible shame.

I can't help but wonder what could've been going on in his life that would've led to him committing suicide. He had a pretty respectable career, so I guess he must've had some really dark stuff going on in his personal life.

when i first saw it on yahoo i was at a loss for words. great director. may he rest in peace.

I know I'm a bad person because my first thought was that he probably saw the script for the Top Gun reboot...

But tasteless jokes aside, he was a talented director and it is sad that something drove him to kill himself. I will be curious to see if any details surface regarding the reason, since it seems unusual considering his age.

Note to myself: If I someday should want to commit suicide, do not, again do NOT do so by jumping of a bridge.

I was actually shocked reading the news. Mostly because it was a suicide attempt. Dude was really talented. Shit is crazy.

He must have been severely troubled by something to feel the need to do this. Rest in Peace, Mr. Scott.

Poor guy. I always hate hearing about suicide deaths. They are a nightmare in my line of work and always seem to hit home harder then I expect. I hope the family has support.
