I'm just curious if anyone liked this movie as much as I did. I liked the movie for what it was, not what it wasn't.

It wasn't a big action movie with alot of huge set peices. It wasn't a ton of special effects and super powers. It wasn't a block buster 300 million dollar film about fighting aliens.

What it was, was based on a true story. Here

It was also a story about the devasting force behind trains, and our resilence on people to keep them under control.

No Caption Provided

This to me is terrifying. Seeing something like that coming full force at you and no way to really stop it.

I think I liked the movie the most because it has Chris Pine and Denzel Washington in it.I don't even really like trains and the story is somewhat overly generic, but for some reason I really liked and wanted to feel for these guys.

If I remember correctly didn't they use the helicopter very far in the movie? Besides that it was ok and I like Denzel Washington as an actor.

No, it was a hundred million dollar blockbuster about fighting a train. Directed by Tony Scott who is not known for his quiet character introspection.

That said, I haven't seen the movie and can not make a comment on the quality.

Yes, but there was relatively no special effects. Not alot of green scene he rented an entire train track out and dozens of trains, which obviously costs money. Most big movies now put most of their money in post production. I was referencing John Carter in my statement.

Okay, but that's not what you wrote in your original post. Also, I would still consider practical effects as special effects. Since they were considered so before the proliferation of CGI.

True but this isn't a movie where there is action at all times on the screen no real violence or villain so to speak. No big evil, just the train.

I saw it fairly recently... I just... eh not my taste of films.. not into action movies so much. I think it's quiet amazing they stretched out a train collision to a what? Almost 2 hour movie?

I thought it was ok. It was pretty awful the way that Rosario Dawson's character entirely existed for the purpose of very opaque exposition. She did what she could, being a charismatic actress, but it was terribly clumsy. Most of it was clumsy. I felt like any enjoyment of the film was mostly due to Chris Pine and Denzel having a good rapport and not because it was a good movie.

I'm guessing your trolling because you don't know what a train can do.

Loved it. Don't have a single idea why no one comes up with the "solution" to the runaway train right away, except for plot service, but Unstoppable was a perfectly competent disaster flick.
