Ace Ventura, not really uplifting but if u love comedies this will at least get u in a better mood.

Other movies, Jerry Maguire, Beverly Hills Cop, Terminator 2. Comedies in general are uplifting, at least for me(not saying T2 is a comedy :P).

I always find the Shawshank Redemption really uplifting but many people seem to disagree with me. That and Star Wars.

@coolarman: I agree with this. They al kind of start off with the characters in sad states, but they're all basically roads to redemption. He's my favorite director, and never fails to make me happy during a film.... so check out this dudes stuff, OP

I don't know why, but I always found the ending to Dark City to be really, really uplifting.

I've always found Brazil by Terry Gilliam to be particulary uplifting (the uncut, proper version mind you, never understood why they switched the ending for the American audience)  Others that have cheered me upon occasion being: Pulp Fiction, Ghostbusters 1+2, Fifth Element, Fight Club, Braveheart, The Dark Knight, Serenity and Se7en.

Batman the Animated Series has always guaranteed chuckles and feel-good moods in me more than anything though.

@IzzyGraze:  See I dont think it ends badly and Is actually an uplifting film. If not for the events of the film Morgan Freemans charecter would have retired and quite likely ate a bullet soon afterwards (because of his views on people and what they are capable of) but because of the events of the film and John Doe: he decideds to put off his retirmenent for the moment "Ill still be around." indicating a renewed hope in him.

It's screwy thinking yes but I tend to enjoy those sort of films more than the standardised "Disney" Happily Ever after bollocks.

@MeetThePyro: All Dogs Go To Heaven...easily one of the best animated movies ever made, and very uplifting.

If you have seen it already and don't understand why its uplifting.. then I recommend Stepbrothers with Will Ferrel.. it's more suiting to your attitude, and also a very uplifting movie.
