Hey boys and girls its your friendly neighbourhood moderator here with a new community sticky for everyone to put their opinions across in regards to the Presidential Election in the USA. Since a portion of the community is pretty politically minded and with this being a somewhat momentus occasion it felt right to have a topic dedicated to discussing the results and outcome of the election when it happens.

So basically to keep the boards free from having a mass of duplicate topics regarding whoever wins the election and to give us Mods an easier job. I figured you can keep all discussion regarding this election in here.

Any forum topics regarding who wins the election and such like will be locked and you'll all be forwarded onto this topic. Blog posts we'll try to just move over to Off Topic however we may lock some down if they are just essentially "omgzor Mccain lost lolz!" and nothing more.

Yeah i have this sneaky feeling Obama will win but possibly just by the slightest number of votes. Plus i have a £10 bet that he will win, so....he better win!

I actually have a £5 bet on McCain. I want Obama to win, he definately seems like the better candidate, but it's going to be close, and the odds on McCain winning were miles better, so I put a bet on McCain. And this way, whoever wins I'm happy!!!

OTHANKGOD! The logical choice is to vote the person that has ever talked about Star Wars in great detail (no one).

It appears McCain has won Kentucky, and Obama has won Vermont.

Ironic since no votes have been counted in Vermont. Websites have not updated it yet.

I mean its OK if they win it, but they project it so early?

Hope it turns out to be false just once, oh it would be hilarious.

They did the same thing in 2004...giving Kerry states he didn't win with only around 2% of the votes counted. There's no point in watching these reports yet...wait until at least 7PM pacific time or better yet, wait until tomorrow morning! :P

Well, aside from the obvious ones. We can most likely assume Obama will take a state such as CA and McCain will win Texas.

Swoops! I didn't think about that but it was basically me asking MB if I could make a "Official Politics Page" and he says "No, thats not a good idea" but here comes this thread rolling along. I just want an answer to why can he if I can't?

Then why wouldn't he have just have told me that Hamz was working on a thread already? This could've all been avoided.

Well, we've got Kentucky gone Red so far, and Vermont gone blue.  So standings are:

McCain - 8
Obama - 3

It looks like Indiana is gonna stay red, and Virginia, Ohio, and Florida are gonna be red as well.

I hope Obama has a trump up his sleeve, because if Kentucky is voting red, then it's gonna go without saying that we'll have McCain as president.  Kentucky voted blue both years for Clinton.

I don't know about all of you guys, but I'm excited as hell about the election either way.  I know that I want McCain in office, as I'm a Republican, but regardless, there is history in the making tonight.

McCain - 13
Obama - 3

Are we going to see an upset? He might be locking Indiana, Florida, and VA. He locked WA, and GA looks to be going his way.

Wow.

^ the officialstatement is McCain 8, Obama 3

going by yahoo here it seems:
Obama wins New Hampshire (4)
Obama wins Maine (4)
McCain wins Georgia (15)
McCain wins Florida (27)

And obviously Obama is going to get New York, Massachusetts, etc. and the same for McCain with those states.

Edit: okay, now Obama is winning florida by a landslide.

I told you that an "Official Politics Thread" wouldn't be a good idea because politics is such a broad topic and there are many different ideas that sometimes deserve their own thread. This particular thread is temporary and about the 2008 United States Presidential Election.  It'll be taken down in a few days.

Indiana and Georgia look red to me, while SC and NC keep shuffling back and forth.  Gonna be exciting to he how those work.

Virginia looks red right now, but it's been goin' nuts.

Looks now like Obama is getting the Carolinas and Florida (fucking traitors), while McCain is still picking up Georgia and Virginia.  Indiana is starting to be a REALLY tight race.

The real swing states are going to be New York, Ohio, and Illinois.  It's an exciting night, gentlemen.
