"RocketDock looks pretty awesome, only if they made one for XP. :("Yeah I know. I'm the best.
"Karmum said:I thought you were taunting me with another Vista-only application, it appears to be XP compatible, so I shall install that a bit later! Is it the same as the RocketDock? "Kazona said:Vista uses more than XP. XP uses more than 98. I think that's the general trend of non-Linux OS."Thanatos465 said:Because Vista doesn't use more RAM than XP?""Worst crap to waste more ram, then vista already is"Obviously you don't know much about Vista or you wouldn't be saying that."
On topic: the cube desktop thing is kind of cool, for awhile I was using something called Chimera Desktop that did something similar.
If you wonna mod your desktop then Linux is the way to go. You can completely convert your desktop and windowing system in a huge variety of different ways, and of course its all completely free.

"thanatos990 said:Most likely yea. But that is actually a good thing, as weird as that may sound. You see, most of that memory is being used by Vista's Superfetch, which preloads your frequently used programs into your system's memory so that they open faster. As soon as a program is in need of memory, however, Vista will push out some Superfetch data to make more RAM available for said program. So in reality, Vista doesn't waste a single bit of RAM, but instead makes good use of it."Kazona said:Is that over a gig of ram used? its hard to see....""Thanatos465 said:I have Vista"Worst crap to waste more ram, then vista already is"Obviously you don't know much about Vista or you wouldn't be saying that."

"Black_Raven said:That sounds like a good idea, is it effective though? Must be a shit load of programs pre-loaded into ram to full up that much, but i guess that depends on how much memory the actual OS is using, on startup my windows XP installation using just over 300mb of ram which is decent."thanatos990 said:Most likely yea. "Kazona said:It's the same principle as XP's prefetch, except vastly improved. It can make a big difference if you tend to switch between programs alot. There's an ongoing debate, however, of it's usefulness if you use your PC mostly for playing games, so some gamers disable it and others leave it enabled."Black_Raven said:That sounds like a good idea, is it effective though? Ok, now I'm gonna say something on-topic finally. I'm not really a fan of docks like that. Tried them a couple times, but I prefer just using the start menu.
