You know those internet messages which are only meant to annoy/advertise things but still annoy you? Well, why don't we call them something like Annoyances! Or something like that. Makes no sense to call them spam because whenever someone says the word "spam" I think of this.

No Caption Provided

I don't think of annoying little buggers that have no life. So why is Spam called spam in the first place? It is not a even partially related to the food. Besides, Spam the food is good! why the hell must the name also be for a bad thing?

spent about 1 second on google and probably found the answer.

Ken Hollis and the alt.spam FAQ: "The history of calling inappropriate postings in great numbers 'Spam' is from a Monty Python skit (yes, it is very silly... see http://www.ironworks.com/comedy/python/spam.htm ) where a couple go into a restaurant, and the wife tries to get something other than Spam. In the background are a bunch of Vikings that sing the praises of Spam. Pretty soon the only thing you can hear in the skit is the word 'Spam'. That same idea would happen to the Internet if large scale inappropriate postings were allowed. You couldn't pick the real postings out from the Spam."

Spam is useless, therefor it is called spam. Read more: http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Why_is_spam_called_'spam'#ixzz1cRJRMJDL

Has anyone ever tried spam. I don't think it tastes very good at all. Deviled ham is good though, and I think that uses spam. I also think you can use normal ham, which I prefer. Spam is used in a lot of dishes in Hawaii, they even have restaurants dedicated to selling spam dishes.

It works on plenty of level. Spam is made from the bits of meat nobody else uses. Worthless filler content like the mail.

Tried it, tastes alright.  Not great, but far from bad tasting.
