I use CyberDefender. I liked Windows Live OneCare though when I had it.

I use the free Avira Antivirus, from what I understand it has one of the highest detection rates and one of the lowest false positive detection rate. Seems good to me.

Had AVG but it failed me on a few scans from Microsoft Security Essentials. So I'm using that now!

I use McAfee I think?  Not sure.  It was free, provided by my college because antivirus is required to access their network.  I don't really use it since I'm on a Mac.

@Tireyo643: If you can get it for free/don't mind spending money. Norton 2010 is the best on the market.

AVG. I've really found it to be the best free anti-virus software.

currently using Microsoft Security Essentials. Its nice that it has no pop-ups for you to purchase anything. I also use noscript with firefox which i think helps.

AVG, It's free and one of the best.  Never had any problems while using it.  Unlike norton that I swear lies and tells me I have a virus, but I need to pay to upgrade to a more premium version because the norton that I currently have can't fix the problem.  But then I would do the same scan with AVG and it would tell me I have no virus.  Norton is shady as fuck.  I'm so glad my current laptop doesn't have it.

I'm so glad someone created this thread. I just got a new laptop yesterday and I had been needing to get Antivirus software.

I went with Avast. Seems pretty solid so far.

@VinceNotVance: Do you know what virus protection you had on your last computer?

Avast is supposed to be good. When my subscription runs out on my current security, I'm considering Norton, or Avast, but even better I might go with Symantic, because I can get if for free from the college!!

@Tireyo643:  I had a free one when I was staying on campus in college, but when I moved out, I had it uninstalled, so I never had virus protection for the past year or so.

Microsoft Security Essentials, free, rated as one of the most effective AVP's and most importantly; tiny footprint.

AVG (the paid one), Avast (the free one), Norton (the paid one) and on my laptop McAfee (The paid one).

Viruses can really mess up your computer, and you almost never know it until it's too late. That's why I use protection in sex and computing!

None, I just rely on myself not doing something stupid on the net, I haven't got a virus in years. Every once and awhile I will run a scan though.
