What did you fear the most when you where a kid?
Tidalwaves and a space station / satellite falling down and landing on me. And injections. Ironic really, because me and a load of other astros took heroin while watching a tidalwave from the ISS.
I was scared about the size of the universe. Funny thing to be scared of as a kid. I would spend nights thinking about how huge the universe was, and it terrified me.
Another thing was the length of eternity. At that time I didn't know that the universe hadn't been around forever, so I was thinking about how long an eternal lifespan would last, and how horrible it would be to live for an infinite period of time. Not a billion years, not a trillion years - but FOREVER.
I was about 9 years old at the time, and I don't really understand the existential dread that afflicted me. Now, I marvel at the size of the universe and I would jump at the chance for biological immortality. Maybe my 9 year old self was... wiser.
Drowning. I was never really a scared kid in terms of weird things like monsters and stuff, but the idea of running out of breath and dying from that is what terrified me to no end.
Needles. Those things still freak me the fuck out. I hate it whenever I have to go to the doctor and they draw blood.
Just seeing the needle makes sweat bullets, it's almost to the point I might just have a straight up phobia of needles or aichmophobia as those who use google like to call it.
See now we all learned something too.
"This, and I live in a basement haha. I have been afraid of bees my whole life.![]()
It's what you can't see that is most frightening. "
Use to dislike spiders when I was a kid but they aren't much of a problem now but I can relate to a fear of water. Swimming pools and such are fine but the fear of being really far out at sea kinda terrifies me, and there isn't much that does. I guess its the fact that you can't see very far when you are that far out and the uncertainty of what is nearby would get to me.
I guess the only thing that I worry about now is losing friends and family.

totally feel you on the size of universe thing. it really bugged me how insignificant we are. which goes with my biggest fear as a child, being hit by an asteroid. the idea that a gigantic rock in space could just end all life and there was nothing that could be done to stop it (except a drill team with a nuke) haunted me for years.
Elevators, deep water and BIRDS... I still get the fucking creeps every time a bird comes up to close to me.
Oh,and taking a shower. Watching Psycho,i always thought the killer from the movie would come and kill me :/
Monsters..
The real kind you know. The ones that has no face or fucking personality, those were freaking scary.
I laughed at everything else "scary"...
@Apathylad:
Not too soon, guys been dead for more than 24 hours.. It's ok to make jokes about all kinds of stuff like that after 24 hours, in my book at least.

Water. Well, not so much water, but getting in and realizing you're body is completely submerged and something could be underneath. It's scary as shit, and still is, so I always have to go in with multiple people with me.
