Dad. I like to keep it simple. Although if I'm writing some kind of formal document or letter and I have to refer to him, I usually write father.

My dad died over 15 years ago. He was Pops to me. He was so laid back Dad seemed too formal. Daddy was too childish of a thing for me to say, and also I didn't see him much when I was a young boy.

If you're interested, there's this whole thread about calling your parents by their first names. Surprisingly, there's actually some interesting discussions in there. It wasn't till I found it that I remembered I was the creator.

I don't have a dad. But if I did, or if I meet my biological one again, I'd just say dad to keep the awkwardness to a minimum.

For some reason when I was a kid instead of saying Dad I would shorten it by one letter and call him Da. At least in private I still use that nickname but I say it the normal way in public.

I chose "Dad", because that is the closest. I think at least. What I actually say is "pappa", which is dad in Norwegian. The thing is, you also have what I see as a lot more formal which is "far". Which equates to "father" in my ears. Then again, had I spoken my local dialect I might actually have said "far" myself, and that dialect is far from formal.

Its funny because I called my father dad and my mother mom until they were in their 70s. Now I call my mother nanna because the grandkids are around and they call her nana. But I call my father "dad" still, the grand kids are supposed to call him "pops" but don't. (My brother-in-law's father and mother were 'grandpa' and 'grandmother', but my parents are 'nanna' and 'pops')

"Lloyd", which my Dad finds disrespectful. Probably because his actual name is David. But I'm gonna keep throwing it out there until it sticks.

I call him "dad" like a normal human being.

I haven't seen anyone call their dad "father", other than rich families with old money.

Dad. Apparently my first word is recorded as 'Da'. I'd probably only call him Father if there's some vengeance and kung-fu involved.

I called my parents Mommy and Daddy pretty far into middle school. I eventually realized this was weird. It never felt right to just call either of the "mom" and "dad" directly so instead I started calling them a bunch of things. Mostly because I thought it sounded funny but also to condition myself from saying mommy or daddy.

If no one is in a terrible mood, I generally him "father" and he calls me "son". We both say it with faux sincerity and enthusiasm. Its kinda weird when I think about it ,but we both think its kinda funny. "Parent" works similarly. Sometimes Papa or Pa. Basically everyone calls each other names in my family.

It's pretty even between two of them. When greeting him I call him Daddy, when I'm talking to or about him I call him Dad. So I voted "Daddy" since I'm apparently a 7 year-old girl :)

(I'm not actually 7 years old, but I am a woman if that makes a difference, which I don't necessarily think it should.)

Dad for the most part.

But I will also use 'pops' when talking with my brothers and also sometimes 'pa' because it's fun to say. I don't think pops or pa are that common to say in the UK.

I call him by his first name. No drama, involved. I did it for a while to try and annoy him as a kid, but he didn't mind, and the habit kind of stuck. He actually get's a little weirded out and worried that something is wrong if I call him "Dad."

Voted for "Pop". I'll call him that or Dad. Just whichever flies out. Possibly an age thing, but I just recently started to call him that in the last 5 years or so out of nowhere without thinking about it.

Last time I spoke to my father it nearly ended up in a fight so I suppose I communicated with him via the medium of sign language. One finger sign language.
