Poll What do you think about Funko figures? (467 votes)
They don't bother me really. I think I get the appeal though I've never owned one or see myself ever buying one.

Most of them are just ugly, but every once in a while one comes along that I almost consider thinking about buying for a second.
I do think it's cool that some more obscure characters and franchises that don't have much in the way of collectibles get represented through Funko, though. But generally, nah, I'm pretty sick of the "[CHARACTER], but 'cute'!" collectible trend.
I don't like them, most of them are ugly, but then again, they're relatively cheap so you could get used to them. Like, I'd buy the Cuphead funkos or the Groot one, they look alright. Nendoroids are still the cutest and the best figurines and are a way better than funkos which comes sadly with their higher price. Honestly, I'd rather have 1 nendoroid than 4-5 funkos which equal in price. Also, sorry, I know nendo and funko fans hate each other and I really didn't mean to turn it into yet another fan war.

@mattgiersoni: Pretty sure this is fantastic. Pretty sure...
Have a few on my cluttered work desk that I have mostly forgotten existed. Short time I wanted to collect a lot of GoT ones but stopped at like four. I thknk I'd get another Gundam or a sick Eva or something if I wanted something new on there, or a Nendoroid figure; those seem charming and have some personality.
Or I'm also too old for this shit and should give it up. But not before I get one of those Lego Voltrons.
I hate them, but it's less to do with what they are or how they look and more from having to be on the retail side of those things. Stocking Funkos, especially at the crappy store I worked at a couple years ago, was a god damn nightmare. We always had way too many for the space they were given, and we often had to make these horrifying Jenga towers out of them on display tables. Of course, people wanted specific ones and would dive in to try to find them, inevitably knocking a shit ton of them over (it's the store's own fault for not giving them proper room, but it was tedious to constantly clean them up all the same). What was even worse was when a customer wanted you to find it, and your inventory system tells you there is just one left. Just one, somewhere, in all that bullshit.
TL/DR: I worked retail and they annoyed me a lot when I did. Personal experience aside, I'm pretty apathetic about them. You want to collect them, go for it.
Occasionally I'll see one that looks neat, but I'm mostly bitter about their existence as I had a similar idea back in high school.
@fredriech: Beanie babies are cuter, feel better, and don't take up as much space.
I really dislike Funkos. They're cheap and awful to look at. Every one looks so similar that it reminds me of the Simpson's Malibu Stacy bit. The massive collections I see online is bizarre. If you have the disposable income needed to collect walls upon walls of geek memorabilia, it feels like a waste to spend it on something so cheap and same looking.
I remember when the first wave of Amiibos came out, and they all had warped limbs and terrible paint jobs, yet people were clamoring for them regardless of the fact that they generally looked like bootlegs. Comparatively, I at least understand collecting mangled Amiibos over Funkos, because at least they look like the characters they're trying to represent.
Funkos are bad.
I'd say I'm somewhere between Inoffensive and I Like 'Em. Used to not get the appeal for them until I found myself wanting some for Adventure Time, then it sort of clicked. Most are fairly cheap so they can be inexpensive collectibles for franchises that have merchandise you can pay an arm and a leg for so they're nice to have to show you like something without breaking the bank. I own several but I'm not going out of my way to buy every single thing for a series I like, I get a few characters I like and that's about it. It's been probably a year or so since I've bought anymore outside of receiving one as a gift.
I'd never buy one, but I piss away an excessive amount of money on my own brand of stupid shit, so I'm not about to judge.
I think they look dumb and don't see the appeal.
But I really like the look of the Claptrap one though... I'am conflicted.
Inoffensive.
They are aesthetically ugly and generic except for some exceptions, but who am I to judge? Besides, it is nice to have some decoration and collectibles for characters and series that might be too obscure or expensive otherwise, so... if you like them, more power to you, I guess.
The D.Va figure I have is cute, and I want to get the Hatsune Miku figure, because I think that is also cute. If you have like 50 of these things, that seems unusual to me, but hey live your life. Most of the figures don't do anything for me, but sometimes I think "Hey, that's alright".
Are we talking about Funko overall or Funko Pop? I don't mind some Funko figures, but I think Funko Pop is atrocious.
Idk, I think some of them can be pretty cool looking, like the Demogorgon from ST and a lot of the Overwatch characters and Resident Evil monsters look kinda neat too. The more detailed they are the better, the more stripped down, worse. Although I guess that's what they were supposed to be in the first place.
They're non Pop or Dorbz stuff is decent. In fact I got a really cool Darkwing Duck action figure made from them I like quite a bit.
@brunothethird: Okay, those are cool. Still don't love the chibi heads, but I'd buy those.
I went with inoffensive. The vast majority are far too similar for me. I do see one sometimes that I think looks alright. I personally own one that I didn't buy on purpose. I grabbed a Loot Crate one time that was themed around time travel stuff. Back to the Future, Bill and Ted, Doctor Who, etc. It had one of Doc Brown in it. I think it's a pretty good/decent one. Have it on my shelf.
I like them. The more detailed the better, but the more plain ones are just boring. Can't really understand the hate, as it's just a figurine, but it just seems like another "this thing is really popular and I don't care about them and so I am going to overreact and hate them like the plague!" deal. Might actually get one today if I find one I like, and if I don't find a Vault-Boy bobblehead. Which I also think are cool.
Strictly speaking they're inoffensive, but if I discovered one of my friends had a large Funko collection I didn't know about I'd have a talk with him. They just look bad, and more importantly tend to look nothing like the source material beside a few exceptions. There are better tiny figures out there people!
I hate them because they have filled a vacuum that could have otherwise been filled with better sculpts.
Not a fan of “collectable figures” in general, but i have a few. All of them are paired with sports memorabilia i have, so the ones i have are athletes, which mostly look the same other than jerseys, but they take up less room and cost alot less than actual “figures” and look leas gaudy on a shelf. I also have the sharknado one which is just a shark in a tornado, which will never be not awesome.
Inoffensive. I don't get the seething hatred for them, they do absolutely nothing to harm you by existing.
I believe most people here voting "I hate 'em" are merely echoing Jeff and co.'s hyperbolic disdain for them. They are kinda dumb, but also totally inoffensive and harmless. I don't really see the appeal of collecting large quantities of them, but I believe they do have a certain charm. There are only a handful that I would spend money on myself. I own three, an Ash from Ash vs. Evil Dead and a large Alien Queen (which is actually pretty cool), both of which I got as gifts, and a Nathan Drake one that came free with buying Uncharted 4 from Target. The rest of the ones I want are basically all Evil Dead related. Unless they put out a Gordon Freeman figure....God help me.
@shagge: I know what you mean. I nearly bought their Pinhead funko, but he had no fear factor at all. Too cute.
Here's another one that's actually well designed:
I want it, but some of them don't come with the open face, but a closed variant, so I'll have to bid on the specific variant on ebay if I want this exact one.
I think Amiibos as a whole are better for collecting, I just wish that they had more properties to develop figures for.
@brunothethird: That was the one I was referring to. I think its one of the better looking designs.
@superslidetail: It really is; it goes against everything people say about them in terms of quality.
This one isn't a pop but it is Funko, and it's gloriously good IMO:

I went to my first con this year and it was crazy the amount of space that was devoted to their homogeneous dolls of everything that's popular. So I voted hate 'em.
