What do you think of The Big Bang Theory (show)?

It's the equivalent of nerd blackface.
Fuck that show.
That needs to be added to the poll.
My parents watch it every night. Me, I just can't get into it, but I don't watch many sitcoms anymore so I can't really judge.
Not a very funny show, its pretty damn bad. Try watching some of the clips on youtube where people have removed the laugh track, that is almost cringe worthy.

Thank you for clarifying my feelings!
Just wondering, cause it seems to get a fairly even distribution of people who love it dearly and loath every fiber of its being. I watched a bit of it today and can't say I finished a whole episode. I've overheard people talking about the show, some peg it as the funniest show on TV or funnier than this or that. I think I stopped watching after someone made an offhand comment about Ubuntu that was followed by a ridiculously fake uproar of laughter.
The first time I saw it, I thought it was stupid. . . and then I couldn't stop watching. I think the show is entertaining and while they push the nerd thing to its very edge, it isn't doing it in a way that depicts nerds in a bad way. Or at least, not in an overly negative way like it could have. More often than not, it makes it seem like people who don't understand them are idiots. Also, I think the show hits a lot of areas that other shows wouldn't really be able to without it just being a side thing with the one smart character in a sitcom doing something ancillary. The poll needs something below favorite, but above lots of misses. It's definitely not my favorite, but I don't think it has a lot of misses neither.
It is about as interesting or relevant as a show about teenage girls having their first period, written by a 70 year old man.

My mom loves it and thought I would find it funny because it's "intelligent."
the thing is that it's not at all "intelligent" ... it's one of the flattest comedies out there. just because the characters are supposedly super-smart doesn't mean the show itself is, too.
I watched all seasons in one go last summer, after a friend recommended it to me. The first few episodes were atrocious. Once they recognized the potential for humor laid in the interactions between the characters they created it got better, going from tolerable to sometimes funny and back.
When it's good it takes advantage of the extreme weirdness of Sheldon or (what's his name?) Simon Helberg's character interacting with one of the "normal" people like Penny or Helberg's character's girlfriend who of course got their own quirks.
The "nerd" stuff is sometimes totally stupid (well, most of the time) but sometimes comes off as believable (actually talking about emulating Mario 64 on a laptop and about how weird that is instead of pretending a PC is the natural platform to play it on as other shows would - or when the apartment got robbed and Sheldon listed off multiple games who had been stolen when asked by the policeman).
When it does the typical "nerds are funny because they ARE nerds" or "nerds can't talk to women" humor, it falls flat and fails miserably. It's funny once or twice if done well ... but it's not.
Also, that laugh track is so fucking obnoxious...
I didn't watch it this season, because I just can't take it anymore. Sheldon's oddness can't sustain my interest any longer and I moved on to shows that are actually smart (poor Community, why do people not watch the best comedy on TV?)

I really like Community too, holy shit that black guy from bro rape and chevy chase are amazing.
If you like Big Bang Theory you should watch The IT Crowd. The first season includes extremely awesome "l33t subtitles" for the first episode. And from there it gets better.
Then there's Spaced with the duders from Shaun of the Dead. They are less nerds and more outcasts, but it's still pretty baller.
British people tend to make better TV.
Its entertaining enough that I enjoy it when I watch it but its not nearly as hilarious as most people seem to think. And the whole "hey guys these are totally what nerds are like!" thing is sorta annoying.
Community is so much better, I don't get how that show isn't more popular.
Started good, but ended up horrible.
Besides, Leonard is constantly insulting Sheldon, constantly he's doing the worst shit to him...and they are supposed to be best friends and long time room mates?
I'd break that fucker's face in 24 places if he was my friend...and the sheer stupidity of it made me stop watching the show.
My fucking step-dad loves it, so it's got to be the worst thing in the world. I've watched bits and pieces and didn't care for it... It's pretty much what @WinterSnowblind: said- it's borderline offensive. Plus my mom got him this shirt for Christmas, and if I ever see him wearing it, I'll probably hit him with my car. I don't know what it means... it's got to be some shitty catch-phrase, right?

I love the show, and get some good laughs every episode. Not like there's many good sitcoms anyway. At least this one's fairly witty and funny. Never thought it would last but now it's syndicated all over.

If it weren't for the skirt 80% of blokes wouldn't give this cack the time of day. People assume I'd like the show because I'm science, but it's weak formulaic tripe.
This reminds me of the dubstep arguments lol. For some people it's, if you don't like it, everyone who does is a complete retard and they shouldn't be allowed an opinion.
Weird how much hate can be put on other peoples opinions. Especially considering this is a video game forum, where for the most part popular culture and media have looked down on people who play games.
Yeah, I agree. I don't find it funny at all but what's the point of belittling people who do?I love the show, and get some good laughs every episode. Not like there's many good sitcoms anyway. At least this one's fairly witty and funny. Never thought it would last but now it's syndicated all over.
