A dog got runned over by a car, I was in a car with my uncle who said: "someone should end its misery". Then he took out his revolver and told me to look away. I didn't.

What is the most shocking thing you have ever seen?
seen IRL or on TV? I watched Shoya Tomizawa die a few weeks ago in a motorbike race on TV.
I guess IRL the craziest thing I saw was my demented Grandfather walking off a 40ft gorge. He broke his leg.
A woman died of a heart attack whilst I held onto her. I was was 17 and working in a cafe to make money during college. Not such a good day.
The aftermath of a car wreck. One drunk guy was challenged by 4 teens in a convertible to drag on the main road near my house in Raleigh NC. The drunk guy swerved into the kids and they flipped. All 4 died and were dragged under the wreckage for about 30 yards or so.
I drove by the scene on the way home from a friends house, moments after the cops arrived.. You can imagine the scene. I was a major pot head, and stopped smoking for over 2 years.
The drunk driver was let off with probation. He went on to be in and out of the News, for continuing to drive drunk and getting into trouble. Fairly sure the kids were drinking too.
Eh, not much goes on here in Tulsa, OK. Craziest thing I've seen LIVE was when I was driving to Dallas. A semi-truck straight-up just plowed through a dog, and the dog walked away like nothing happened. It wasn't even limping!!? Maybe it felt it later, but it still amazed me. And, I've seen a woman give birth. That was gross. lol.
At work a guy accidentally dropped a Stihl saw on his foot and it went straight through it and sent out about a 10m long spray of blood, boot and bone along the floor.
It was gross
um... never really witnessed anything that shocking in my life
i was in my car stopped at a red light waiting for it to turn green one night when i saw a crazy fucking accident across the street
No actual gore involved. Was stopped on the highway for about 20 minutes. A helicopter landed about a half mile up the road, then took off. They had vision blocking cars out.
Drove past and there was a car with back seats through the front windshield. I'd say that's pretty shocking.
In a bit more tongue-in-cheek way, one of the the most shocking thingsI've ever seen was A Serbian Film.
"Same thing with me, except it was a cat, and there was no uncle or revolver. The mid section of the cat was completely flattened onto the road, but its head and legs were still moving sporadically.A dog got runned over by a car, I was in a car with my uncle who said: "someone should end its misery". Then he took out his revolver and told me to look away. I didn't.

I called the local labor firm to clean it up. Poor kitty.
I saw a guy get hit in the head with a full bottle of ale which went from awesome to grizzly in about 5 seconds. Nothing particularly life changing though.
nick berg getting beheaded by the taliban i believe in 2004. oh and a baby kitten being lit on fire by some Chinese. i've seen alot worse that i'd rather not discuss.

My best friend died when he got hit in the head with a large glass bottle that got thrown high into the air into the crowd I was in. I was standing right next to him and tried to wake him up but he was out. Could have easily been me. Went in the ambulance with him and didn't get back 'till morning, my shirt covered in blood from the gash it made in his head. Nobody came forward and confessed to throwing the bottle.
I once saw a newborn kitten die in Greece. It was the runt of the litter and I guess that's the way of the world, but I also heard it being born and that might've been worse. I've never been so scared in my life, I thought a woman was being murdered outside my window from the noise that cat made.
Saw a 90 year old dude drive over 3 people in my home town years ago. He had a heart attack at the wheel, died and put his pedal to the medal. Luckily, all 3 people he hit had minor injuries.
Either the inside of a rolling SUV or waking up in a field after last remembering being in a rolling SUV.
" A woman died of a heart attack whilst I held onto her. I was was 17 and working in a cafe to make money during college. Not such a good day. "Damn....
Driving home late one night. I live in the middle of the woods so I was going pretty slow, could barely see a thing. On the ground, something caught the glint of my headlights. The road was splattered with blood and a carcass of some large mammalian creature (probably a deer?) was torn into pieces, strewn across the street. Probably got hit by a huge truck or something, poor thing.
Holy crap. Nick Berg was from West Chester, Pennsylvania. That's where I live!
For me, it would have to be Robert "Budd" Dwyer committing suicide on live TV.

I didn't see it live (wasn't born until a year later), but I have seen the video. Very disturbing.
Actually, now it's been mentioned, I remember seeing a documentary about the treatment of animals in China that was just horrible on every level. I'm with Morrisey on this one.

"Wow, I don't know how to respond, I've never had a particularly awful event in my life so I can only imagine how much that must suck...
Not anything too shocking, but I did see a fire outside at school today, with a few firetrucks there.
In terms of audiovideo, pretty much everything, although the unknown russian soldier video is still the most "shocking" thing since I was way too young when I first saw it.
In terms of actual, witnessed content, hm. Seeing a loved one completely shot up with H is something I could have done without.
I was the first on scene to a motorcycle accident. The guy was lying in the road with his leg twisted and under his body and his head was cracked open with half his brain on the pavement. He was twitching and struggling to breathe but, I knew he was just close to death. His bike was all messed up to. When you crash on motorcycles or cars nowadays, the speedometer locks in the MPH when the crash happens. On an extremely windy road that's 35mph he was going 85mph. His blood is still on the pavement.
What's a little more messed up is when it was over and I got back in my car, my iPod was playing "Goodbye Cruel World" by COLD. That threw me for a loop.
I grew up in a rural village so Ive never seen anything particularly horrific happen, but I remember being a kid in a particularly bad accident that left me with no skin or muscle on my right elbow. Seeing your bones move when you bend your elbow is something that stays with you forever.
They fixed me up ok (i have skin and tissue there now) but it left me with no nerves in that area so i cant feel a damn thing on my elbow.
