Before GB what website did you go on, and why'd you leave that site.
I came from Gametrailers and I left because everyone's an asshole on the site. I would be on the fourms asking simple questions like which game should I get and Fanboys flood the thread.
What Website did you come from?
I imagine most people who've been long-time users here came from Gamespot. Jeff and co. had a good following over there.
I myself am one of those Gamespot immigrants!
I did first came here from GS but after a while I forgot about GB mainly because not having internet for a while i forgot things.
IGN. It was funny: after I found GB, I went to both for a few months, and gradually just less and less IGN until not at all. Better crowd here, both writers and community. A crowd who seems genuinely concerned with what games are good and fun rather than inciting flamewars.
I like to believe I started on Twisted Metal: Head On, ahhhh good times, good times. But seriously, YouTube, I got really goddam sick of all the 12 year old fucking emo bitches and their goddam emo poems and the fact that they've decided that they're bisexual already. Sickening as EVERYTHING going on with YouTube is, I still go there every fucking day. EVERY DAY! Why?????
P.S. If you're talking about video game websites, GameSpot, I left when Jeff left, for a short while. Now I go there almost daily to look at reviews for old games.
One day when I was much younger, I decided to try videogames.com, to you know, see if it was an actual website. As it turns out.....
After the whole thing with Jeff at Gamespot, I came here as soon as the super pre alpha beta site came up.
looked for video game things once on itunes, found "The Last Word", watched a few episodes, and thoroughly enjoyed them. Looked at other Gamespot things, watched several episodes of on the spot, was hooked, looked at the site more extensively, even more hooked. Kane and Lynch, Xplay, Jeffgerstmannisstillalive.com, Giant Bomb.

I really didn't have a go to site before Giant Bomb. I went to Gamespot quite a bit, they always seemed to have good stuff. Especially with Eckberg being on top of everything sports related, that made Gamespot cool back in the day. I can't bring myself to go there anymore though. There just isn't enough surrounding Eckburg to make me want to.
I came from this site. http://absurd.org/
I came here from no site. I really wasn't on the Gamespot forums but, I knew who Jeff and Ryan were. Once I heard about this site on X-Play, I decided to check out it. I didn't sign up for the site till August and I started listening to the Bombcast in October. After that, I fell in love with the site.
I've gone in and out of different forums, mainly GameSpot and GameTrailers but I really like this place more. There's never any good conversations, at least with Giant Bomb the stuff is good to read.
Well I followed the whole GS fiasco and checked upon Jeff every now and then, but with him having just a blog at the time, I stopped paying attention to it. Then a few days ago I was checking a game on Wikipedia which had the opinion of Jeff in the article which also mentioned this site, so I checked it out, registered etc etc.
Well, I didn't come from a video game site. But I have a tendency to focus on 1 site at a time. I came from Newgrounds, I left because the forums there are really judgmental on post totals, like ive been an official member since 04 (going to site since 02) but I have like 300 posts. The community kinda sucks there.

Me too
I came here from Gamespot after reading about the Jeff incident on Wikipedia or something and thinking "I need to go join that place!". After about 3 months I left Gamespot and started posting and lurking over here.
I was a Gamespotter up until a little bit after Jeff left. I stuck around for a little longer, but once Navarro was gone I stopped going to GS regularly. I then moved on to the 1up Boards, and caught some of Jeff and Ryan's Arrow Pointing Down work. It wasn't until a month or so ago though that I started coming to Giant Bomb because I found the 1up community to be ok. The thing with 1up though is they aren't so friendly to new people and it is hard to feel really part of a community (except for a group of us NGers, we were cool).
If it's gaming websites we're dealing with, then I originally came from Gamespot, like a lot of other people.
If it's websites in general, then I came from deviantART.com.
None, I took a break from being any sort of regular poster to any game site for a long time. The last one I was a regular at was G4 when they were still all games all the time. That's how long it has been since I was a regular anywhere. I joined GB because of the podcast, and I wanted to join a site that was young and still building an identity.
I used to visit GameSpot for Jeff Gerstmann but wasn't part of the community. I visit many sites, but I came here because of Jeff.
I'm here from Gamespot. I was never into the community interaction on that site( I found the people in the forums frighting, moronic, mean spirited, and far too interested in the system wars).
Gamespot was the first major influence on how I looked at games, what I enjoyed in games, and how I wanted to discuss games.
And now.....you can say the same thing about Giant Bomb.
Gamespot, I got banned twice. Actually three, but the third time was an insta-ban because they had my IP.
