Tomorrow, will be the day that Middleton and his future husband, Prince William preparing for their marriage. And boy am I hearing it all over the world of Twitter, Facebook, and Yahoo. As I was circulating the web and the comments, I read many people saying that they are just tired of this and that why Kate just get married already. First of all, I, in the world of hell, didn't know who's Kate, but I now publicly know all about her and her wedding.
But anyway, I DO know that there are Britain Users in this site and I'm well aware that some are tired of it too. I also recently posted that I'm tired of this wedding. I've been on this for 5 hours and I'm starting to get sick, but, why is everyone are saying that they are going to vommit in 6 seconds all because of this? It's ridiculous!!
What's with people saying that They are tired of Kate's Wedding?
The first time I heard about this was from a thread made on Giant Bomb.
Because it's stupid. Why should we all care about a family that has no power at all anymore, and get paid by tax payers money for absolutely no reason. The news should be reporting about actual important things. Not have huge specials dedicated to a wedding between people who don't even matter.
" Because it's annoying when something that you don't care about appears all over the news. "Pretty much this.
" @Junkerman: I heard that the UK still gives their taxes to the Queen. If that's true...that's kinda messed up. I understand giving our tax dollars for the President's salary, but the Queen doesn't have any powers. I would be so pissed if tax money was used for this wedding. "The Queen does still have some powers. The majority of the country is run by the Prime Minister and all the other blokes at Westminster though. Also, the amount of money raised by tourism and merchandise makes up for most of the money spent on the wedding I imagine. There are worse things tax money can be spent on. Like politicians using it to buy HDTVs etc.
Hell if the right people agreed to it, the Queen could bring the country to its knees and declare nuclear armageddon if she wished.
I didn't mind... until I heard that there was a bank holiday for it (which i'm working on that day) and I need to do some shit at uni and i'm afraid it may be closed... not cool!
" I didn't mind... until I heard that there was a bank holiday for it (which i'm working on that day) and I need to do some shit at uni and i'm afraid it may be closed... not cool!Man, me too. Also I'm sick of hearing about it and seeing it everywhere i go"
I can see where the Brits would be interested, because they will some day be the leaders of their country.
"Because it's annoying when something that you don't care about appears all over the news. "
Yep, more important things should be on the news.
" @Jasta: Interesting video, I had not considered the tourism aspect of the monarchy's existance. And I wouldn't say that I'm pissed on the subject either. My view stems more from frustration at the vestigial nature of the monarchy as (aside from being a huge income boost apparently) they are for the most part inconsequential, and spending money on maintaining them just seems like a waste, socially. Perhaps they are not useless financially, if that video is accurate, but the time, manpower and other resources committed to a lavish ceremony for two inconsequential people still seems like a waste to me. "
I can see what you're getting at, but the amount of money that is going to be made from this wedding, despite all the time and effort put into it will be phenomenal. Charles and Diana probably seemed just as inconsequential, but the media fuss and tourism rocketed when they got married. Other than being a money pot for the UK to take advantage of, they don't do much else.
The only personal tie that I have to this wedding is getting paid extra to work on the day, which means I don't have to watch it because the rest of my family probably will be, and the shop will be empty because the customers are otherwise occupied with the days events.
Easy ass day for me.
I don't really care about it, but i mean come on, i just think of those fucking little cutscenes in medieval II Total War when a royal wedding happened, it was always epic.

"Probably because its a little over the top for every news company covering it to the point of nausea. It's getting really annoying to constantly hear about their wedding when outside of marketers and wannabe protesters, no one truly cares about their wedding.
Oh well, its just really annoying to keep being picked at by it.
I find it ridiculous that 2 people from another country are all over the news constantly here in the U.S. but barely anyone is reporting how there's tornadoes in the south and quite a number of people are dying and getting injured in our own country.
It`s nice that someone else in this thread seems to understand that the royal family actually makes the taxpayers money rather then drains it. As far as the wedding goes, it`s about as annoying as any other tabloid style shit I see in the news, which is none since I don`t look at the news and mostly ignore what I hear.
" @Jasta: So overall, are people just more annoyed or happy to have the day off? "
I volunteered to work on the day because I'd get paid more for it, so I'm pretty excited about that I guess.

You're funny.

Its a wedding that really means nothing in this day and age SO I care about it just as much as everything other wedding in the world
" @JJWeatherman said:Sure, and now everyone does know. They can celebrate it in private now like normal people." @FancySoapsMan said:You look like a king, good friend. " @Jasta: What is it like 1.5x like Americans get for holidays? "
Yeah, it works out at a bit more than that though. I'm working 6 hours but I will get paid for just under 10. I put my name down for 15 hours but the manager said I'd crash my car driving home after a 9am - Midnight shift. Pfftt.
To that I say: Who gives a shit?" @JJWeatherman: ....but this is the most important prince of the most important country in the western world. "
But I guess it's just me, because apparently lots of people do. I just find that weird. It's 2012, guys. We don't need to make a fuss over royal weddings anymore.
Edit: I meant 2011, but I'm keeping it in there to show how much of an idiot I can be sometimes.
Where exactly is all these apparently 24/7 coverage of the wedding coming from, especially in American media? Within the last week, I remember just one story on the wedding itself. Now this is just nightly news on the 3 big networks and PBS, so maybe cable is just full of royal wedding hype, but I am not seeing any such deluge.
" It's 2012, guys. We don't need to make a fuss over royal weddings anymore. "Precisely. It's bad enough that every news network in America is, for whatever reason, covering it, but then you also have several major channels such as TLC having all day marathons of programming about the royal family. If this was just a passing news story I would say, "Oh, that's nice" but it has far over stayed its welcome. Let the Brits have their fun, but quite frankly I don't care about it. There are much more important things closer to home that people want to be covered.
