I've been thinking about this idea for a while now. My school has partnerships with 25+ universities across the globe and as such, I can choose to do a semester abroad. I need to string together a few choices, my first being Italy. Mainly because I'm a huge Milan fan (A soccer team) and would love to be around them. Besides that I don't have much reason to go to Italy. Nor do I have much reason to go anywhere else, I don't feel attached to any particular culture. I heard the advantage of going to somewhere in Europe is that every other country in Europe is so close together, that I can travel there whenever. And apparently the school there will be a lot easier, and I will have a lot of time off in which to study.

I currently live in Canada. My exchange can either be in 3rd or 4th year of university, I'm currently in my second. And it can be either in Fall (September-December) or Spring (January-April). Money isn't really an issue. Where do you guys think I should go?

If Italy is an option I'd take it. I'd love to go to Italy! Also it seems the only one you seem a little bothered about. In terms of what is best for your education I can't advise you I'm afraid. What about career wise? Could any particular place enhance your prospects for a career once you leave uni?

Asia would be cool to visit but I'm not sure about studying. Europe is real easy to get around in so Italy looks like a sound plan.

@Axxol: Honestly You'll learn more about life in a place like Haiti then anywhere else.

If you just want to party and get shitfaced and laid, I've heard people do both in either Australia or Europe. I actually knew a kid in the seminary who went to Australia and ended up quiting, because he discovered his love of Women and Booze while there. It also didn't hurt when one of the priests found him passed out in his bed with vomit all over his sweater.

One of my roommates spent a summer in China and he had a crazy time. Everything was dirt cheap, drugs were easy and there were prostitutes everywhere. Of course he is a straight edged guy with a girlfriend so he was more into the culture, and learning about the people, but once again that stuff is there if you want it.

Basically you can get fucked up anywhere, so just go where the culture interests you the most.

I can't exactly say I've covered all of the Great White North and been sea to shining sea but there seem to be so many similarities between Canada and America that you'd probably get more out of going somewhere else. Personally, out of those options, I'd say Europe (even if you definitely could do with being more specific) and Asia. Though, even if those options don't come up, just go anywhere. Even though I'm living with a bunch of douchebags, I still have zero regrets for studying abroad and it'll look great on a future CV.

@Erzs: I  don't any option will help in my career in certain ways. Perhaps introducing me to new companies. I still don't know what I want to specialize in (I'm in business school btw). But it's my dream to be some sort of financial director for Ac Milan :P But I doubt that would happen, if it ever would, anytime soon. But besides that, I don't think any place has an advantage over another.

@Malakhii: I can go to numerous places in South America. ex. Uruguay, Brazil, chile, Argentina. We had a panel discussion today and a girl went to Uruguay. she loved it, but it was difficult for her to travel in her time off, since everything in South America is far from each other. So I want to go to Europe mostly for the different experiences there. Unfortunately, I'm straight-edged as well :P But I  wouldn't mind having a brief romance with an italian beauty.

I could also go to Dubai. However, the only advantage I think that holds, is that I speak the language. But I feel like I know the arab culture well enough, so it won't be that new of an experience for me.

@arab_prince: I honestly don't know much about South America, I've never been, or really talked to anyone about a trip there, but it's something I would love to experience.

I would definitely advise  going somewhere new to you though, experiencing new things is always the best. Just make sure to look a little bit into your choices so you don't go in totally blind. And check currency rates, so you can get the most bang for your buck.
