Who is Right?
Personally I think that Northern Ireland is so heavily influenced by the UK through all of these years it'll be very...odd if it were suddenly be returned to the Republic of Ireland. There's a few stupid teenagers who think it should be part of the Republic but these are the same type of people who spray "Up the IRA" all over the place and not know a single thing about politics.
To be fully honest? I don't care that much for it.
It's increasingly becoming a non-issue to both sides, but not everybody's willing to admit it. Geopolitics these days is such that separatism is more about petty pride than anything significant; economically, in the sense of trade links, little is going to change either way. And politically, correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't Northern Ireland have its own regional parliament like Scotland?
I care about Irish Nationalism as a concept less and less from the mid-19th century until now. Then, important; now, much less. I don't like flags, I don't like national pride, so I don't understand the more emotive arguments. But that's just my take on their situation. If a referendum came out and said, separate, then I'd absolutely support it. Meaningless gesture or not. But then, I'm English, what do I know.

Wrong country, wrong spelling. And people say that Americans are ignorant of the rest of the world. I wonder where they get that idea?
Well, the uk would sure as hell save more money by letting it be a part of Ireland. But I think its too late now. Don't know if anyone gives a shit now except for a bunch of grumpy old irish men.
