Why is HTML5 video a members only feature?

Out of curiosity what were the reasons for having HTML5 video on the video pages as a members only feature? Is Whiskey Media able to send higher quality video down the line?

HTML5 is a premium feature because it coincides with the special mobile sites that members get, if I remember correctly.

It's not. Use an iPad or trick your Safari to make it look like an iPad/iPhone and it'll work.

I think it is because HTML5 is still a testing ground between browsers and support for it is still in flux with which formats each browser supports but that is just my guess.

So people sign up for it and they have money.
