The site was easy to hate. In fact, it still is easy to hate. It's still not very attractive. and it is only now starting get get some decent speed to it.
And the color scheme and boxy nature of it are things only a mother could love. As a designer, I think it's pretty damn homley. I'm just looking past it these days.
Yeah I saw that too. While I do agree with some of their criticism, some people take it way overboard. Like saying typing thing with your elbows is childish, while it is, I've seen those topics 100000 times on Gamespot.
As for moderation, I do think this site needs to be modded but not as harshly as Gamespot. Getting modded for saying "You're an idiot", is kind of lame when the person was being an irrational tard. Although calling some an idiot for simply having a different view should be modded.

We don't need a ton of rules, the problem is a bunch of kids coming on here to make threads such as what you said out of boredom or for not knowing better.

GiantBomb's forums are not that great, especially with the lack of rules. I know they (GB Staff) want the community to govern itself but deep down inside, they knew it would never happen. You can't give freedom to people because they'll just abuse it.

Well, the whole pornography thing has now been barred, swearing is an issue only when it becomes overused, fortunately most of the users here seem to be mature enough not to drop in and out of profanities every other word. The quality of thread topics is occassionally shoddy I will admit, but over time I am sure that things like that will die down.

The only issue with the forums is lack of an easy branching mechanism to find the types of forums you want to go to quickly.
For example: If I wanted to go quickly to the Nintendo DS forum from here, I don't see an obvious or intuitive way of doing that. That's a big step down from like...every other forum on the internet.

Also, they are jealous of you guys? What the hell is there to be jealous of? If anything, Giant Bomb should be jealous of the sucess of GameSpot has had, even though Giant Bomb is still relatively new.
But I would REALLY love to know what they are jealous of.
The fact that Gamespot bans people for discussing Giant Bomb and not the other way around is probably a pretty good indication of how things are going to operate here.
