Blockbuster used to be where you got hot games from 3 months ago. But now that nobody seems to step into Blockbuster anymore, you can actually rent new games pretty soon after their release. It's really a shame they put all the local video stores out of business, though, because that was the best place to rent a game. At a dollar a day, five dollars a week, you could afford to beat Final Fantasy II. I miss that.
I also miss that damn Blockbuster add campaign. That's pretty effective that I still have the damn "What a difference" song from Blockbuster stuck in my head.
Wow What a Difference...Blockbuster Video

Yeah, I used to go into a local blockbuster that was almost deserted by the public. It was great because I bought tons of used games for under 10$ and most of the time it was buy 1 get 1. Sadly they closed and I have to go to gamestop with everyone else :(
Last time I walked into Blockbuster was one of the saddest experiences of my adult life. Beat up TVs with blown speakers showing some dumb kids movie, stains all over the carpet, the whole store smelled like ass, the only people in there were trashy kids walking around barefoot and the dude behind the counter looked super hung over. He had that I-slept-on-someone's-floor-last-night hair and didn't even look up when I walked out without stopping by the counter...
Thank god for Netflix and Gamefly. :(

" Blockbusters here in Canada are legit. "Blockbusters in the UK is perfectly alive and well. Probably because we don't have NetFlix.
" @fwylo said:Same. Just replace UK with Australia >.> Also, stop making the Ashes hard to get!" Blockbusters here in Canada are legit. "Blockbusters in the UK is perfectly alive and well. Probably because we don't have NetFlix. "
The trend of mom & pop video shops being displaced by Blockbuster video shops was sad, but at least the mom & pop shop turned into something else. What do you do with a Blockbuster video shop? What sort of store needs that sort of space or that sort of look? We had a BB that died early; it turned it into a Curves Gym. But of course that meant they had to paper over the windows so the fat ladies working up a sweat in there didn't feel ashamed. Big glass storefront papered over outline of a Blockbusters sign covered by a temporary cheap vinyl Curves sign, "Wow, a real attractive look for an already run down strip mall."
" So far with Blockbuster I have rented 3 games on day of release, Resident Evil 5, World At War and New Vegas. Not too shabby, it's a shame Blockbuster will cease to exist by the end of the decade. "Speaking of which, I bought my copy of Resident Evil 5 Collector's Edition at Blockbuster to get the exclusive framed art. Still proud of that. It was the first time I had walked into a Blockbuster since I bought EarthBound for SNES for $15 and since the N64 days (where I bought Mischief Makers and Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon, both of which I still own..... if the girl I like didn't lose them that is. DAMN!!!!!! I gotta go check on that >_< I'm such a moron! *sits in corner*).
I got Uncharted 2 from Blockbuster on day one. They were usually good to me, but I don't have much use for them.
Yeah, video rental stores are still quite popular in Canada and likely will be for quite a while. We have too much legal craziness about international content for Netflix to become worthwhile here anytime soon. Even if Blockbuster disappears because it's American, Roger's Video definitely isn't going anywhere." Blockbusters here in Canada are legit. "
I like Blockbuster they ususaly have older games for older systems at a cheap price.
As a kid I used to go there every Saturday and rent a PSX game for a week. Good Times.
My closet Blockbuster shutdown and became a blood donation centre. Now if I want to goto a Blockbuster I have to go further and make time in stead of an old 3 mintue tram ride with the old place.
