NWOBHM, NOKTHX

I can respect it for ushering in a new era of rock and roll music, but I generally don't enjoy listening to it. But the stuff it spawned? Magnifico.

Do you like NWOBHM? If you're wondering what that is, it's stuff like Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Motorhead, Diamond Head, UFO, Michael Shenker Group, etc.

I didn't know there was an old wave. I assume the old one was Led Zep (although they are neither heavy nor metal), Deep Purple, Iron Maiden (rock gods!!!), Black Sabbath, Motorhead, Def Leppard, Venom, etc. If so, what is the new wave? If it is anything I have heard that might be mistranslated as "metal" I will say it sucks. The previous bands were intelligent. The current ones... they just blow. I think it's the whiney nature. What is wrong with straight up just rocking? I liked the grunge era. It had it's reasons and methods. But real rock is the only rock. If you hear a song and can't define it as just rock and roll music... it is not rock. Of course... rock is one of the hardest things in the world to pin down. You know it when you hear it. That's why Montrose was rock and Van Haggar sucked.

All of the bands that I highlighted and underlined are part of the NWOBHM scene; it's an old, dead scene. Th first wave of heavy metal  consisted of bands like Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, and Deep Purple. Def Leppard is a little late to be part of the NWOBHM scene.

I will change my vote to Yay! If you need a reason... see above post. Also, why is what I call metal called "New Wave of British Heavy Metal"? It's just metal. Anything else is not metal. Don't mention Slipknot or I will find you.

Why did you state Bruce as a separate thing? It's not like Maiden was awesome until they got him.

It's called that for many reasons. First, many bands before it, such as Budgie and Black Sabbath, would be considered metal. Second, the scene was dead in the '80s, which, as you probably know, was the DECADE of metal. Also, Slipknot=Shit (See what I did there!?)

Yo Saxon, Diamond Head, Venom, Motorhead, Maiden (Paul Di'Anno era is best), Tygers of Pan Tang, Girlschool, Angel Witch...all great bands.

Could name more, but those are some of the luminaries. Oh, and Satan is pretty good stuff too.

I know, but just as I think Maiden needs him, he needs Maiden; they're MUCH better off working together.

 NWOBHM = Fuck yeah!

Sabbath aren't NWOBHM, though. But Priest and Maiden are, and if somebody says they're into metal but not into Priest or Maiden, they're lying about one of the two.

Also, Lenny Kilmister is the coolest person on the planet. Exhibit one: his surname is Kilmister. Exhibit two: he's the guy behind Motörhead and songs like 'Ace of Spades'. Exhibit three: he also used to be in Hawkwind. Exhibit four: this is a picture of him (at age 60!):

No Caption Provided

Verdict: Lemmy Kilmister is the coolest person on the planet.

Must agree with you on all that, but you missed Exhibit five: he's slept with more women than either of us EVER will.

Also, I never said Sabbath was NWOBHM; they were considered part of the first wave.

not really a thrash fan, I like a few Megadeth songs and that's it. After the NWOBHM i find it hard to really get into a music scene so my music collection post 1980 looks like someone just took names out of a hat.

It was a musical scene that took place in England during the late-70's to early-80's; it sounded different from both the heavy metal before it and after it. If you're curious what it sounds like, check out Judas Priest.

Eh; I think I'm the only person who prefers Anthrax over Megadeth (but I prefer Metallica over them).

Iron Maiden needs to make a new game(the last one was crap but was still better then the Queensryche game).  Best concert I ever went too was the Three Tremors tour with Maiden, Queensryche, and Halford. Maiden had Brave New World out and Halford had Resurrection out so it was more new material then I would have liked but at least those albums were great.

I don't get all this Iron Maiden stuff, but I know that the new Sonic Syndicate Singer is British, and he ruined the band. So I voted no.
