Your top 3 games of all time (2014)

Back in 2012 i came up with the idea of asking the people of GiantBomb which are their top 3 games of all time.

2 years passed and i wanna do it again since many new games plus new generation consoles were released so i am sure new interesting games will most probably enter the list.

RULES:

1) Only add your top 3 games, if you add more i will pick your first 3. If you add 2, i wont add any, it has to be 3 and believe me i understand how hard it is :)

2) Do not give me Franchises , please be specific on which game you want.

Since I don't want to list only Mass Effect in my top 3 I'm going to put the first one on the top spot and have it represent the franchise as a whole. It kicked things off so that seems like the right thing to do.

@lmephisto: That would be Picross (not sure which one though).

Does 'top 3' mean the three games that I enjoyed the most in my lifetime, including games that aged badly or are today mechanically unplayable? Or does it mean the three that have been reigning supreme in my experience and remain playable, surprising and fascinating in each and every new playthrough? The ones that stood the test of time in their gameplay as well as story quality?

Because San Andreas, woah, the epitome of open world action games, nothing will ever come close to the borderline abusive impact of that masterpiece, but I wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole today. So?

This was exceedingly tough, but my gut right now is as follows -

1 - Quake (PC)

2 - TLoZ: Ocarina of Time (N64)

3 - Halo 3 (X360)

1.) Freespace 2 (Without mods, the game still holds up very well. Modded, it tops modern space shooter sims.)

2.) Baldur's Gate 2 (Sorry Planescape. I liked your story better, but had more fun with BG2.)

3.) Final Fantasy 6 (Sorry Chrono Trigger. FF6 wasn't my first JRPG. That was Dragon Warrior, but FF6 was the second. You're a better game, CT - but you don't have the opera or Dancing Mad.)

3. The Legend of Heroes Trails in the Sky

It's been quite a while since I played any of these games, but they've always remained at the top of my list.

3. Batman Arkham City

The only thing I go back and for with is which Arkham game is number 3, but otherwise everything's been the same.

This is a impossible question for somebody my age. I've been around since Pong. Too many great games, too many great systems. I cannot answer correctly or 3 is just not enough.
