Your Worst Music Crimes

Found rave.dj. It's this thing that allows you to make mash-ups of songs by putting in youtube links.

It messes with pitch and tempo a little bit, but mostly what it seems to do is lay the songs on top of each other in a way that makes as much sense as whatever's under its hood can make. Thus most of what you can create with it is pretty unlistenable. But every once in a while you get something that works. And at least it's entertaining!

@shagge: That Eminem/Nate Dogg/Beastie Boys one is probably the most coherent rave(s? I guess is what we're calling these?) I've heard so far. Also, we as a culture need to spend more time examining the Shake That video. And song really.

@unclejam23: Haha, right? I wish I could tweak it juuust a bit to get rid of the vocals running into each other, but holy shit, I actually want to listen to this mashup more than once, can't say that about most of my experiments so far, hahaha. (and yeah, jesus, that video)

This reminds me of the Nine Inch Nails/Spice Girls remix I first heard in the 90s! It was one of the original viral remixes on the Internet and the sound quality was horrible but it's a pure hit of nostalgia for me. Caution: Language

@shagge: Yeah, a little bit more editing control would be nice. It took me forever to find something to properly ruin The Christmas Shoes with. (I thought ODB's "Got Your Money" would be a shoo-in, but noooooo.) That said, I also think the lack of control is part of the magic tbh. It really only matters when you find something that's very close to working. Also, I'm not like a music composition person anyway, so I'd only know how to do so much.

For what it's worth, I know it makes a difference when you use the music video rather than just audio of the song. I don't know why, but it does.

@unclejam23: Yeah, I'm finding that videos mash up better, it's bizarre.

And of course, a bit of forethought to BPM and theming helps, like in actual mashups, but the AI gon' do what the AI gon' do, and I'm addicted, haha. I hope there's not a daily upload cap, because this is going to be my whole day now. :P

I tried a handful of things to combine with Billy Gunn's theme and this was the best/worst...? *shrug* I think it works in some spots, doesn't work well in others.

EDIT: This is a very specific, dumb thing that's been in my head since that TNA video game game out that came with a bonus DVD with some early matches from the beginning of TNA. I just need to finally give it a physical form.

This is a poor tool and I can't tell if it helps. All it does is layer two songs on top of each other and then pumps the volume of one to drown out the other.
