Sooo, I've been rice-cooker-less for about the past month, and during that month, I've been furiously researching what types of rice cooker would best fit with me and mine.  There was a brief discussion (no more than a minute or two) on the bombcast on rice cookers and the blessings they have bestowed upon mankind since their inception.

Enough talking.  Lets get to the picture takin so I can get to cookin!

After the Amazon box is stripped away.  Side view.

The first layers are stripped away.  In comes the kitty to investigate.

For those who read Japanese, there's the instructions for proper use.  Obviously won't be needing these.

I hate "unboxing" threads and vids.

But I do love rice.

This is much better than an unboxing video.  Those spaztards who just can't succinctly go about things and give you 13 minutes of fucking drivel telling you nothing at all about the product.  Stab 'em in da fayce!

As someone who eats rice on a daily basis I'm genuinely intrigued by this rice cooker. It's fancier then your usual cooker isn't it?

Someone needs to do a damn good job selling me to get me to buy a rice cooker. I make rice in a pot on the stove. I can make it sticky, I can make it fluffy, dry, wet, stuff in it, no stuff. Whatever. Why do I need a big thing on my already scrimpy counterspace when I seem to be able to do everything I need in a rice dish with a standard stovetop pan (or in the oven - say Jambalaya)?

Not to say that that puppy doesn't look sweet. It does.

Mannnnnnn I really want one of these bad boys.  I live in a small apartment, so the versatility of a rice cooker combined with the small size makes this very appealing.  Off to Amazon...

I've always been curious about rice cookers, but not curious enough to do research. So what kinds of rice can they cook for you? Are we talking jasmine, long grain, wild, etc? Or is it just limited to white, brown, and sticky rice?

@christ0phe: Well, come on man.  It's the kitchen we're talking about here.  One of the main reasons of having a house.  But like a few things (speakers, furniture, clothes) the more you pay - within reason - the longer your product will last.  I found a pair of Kenwood 777's at good will a few years ago, and after having a friend give me a few pointers, they sound just as nice as my Sony MDR headphones...

@JA050N: Yea, I'm really looking forward to this baby.
