Twenty two does not like the look of that. He thinks that if things continue this way, most MP3 player manufacturers may start releasing phone models of their MP3 players too. He thinks that would clog the cell phone market too much and he already thinks that there are enough cellphones and manufacturers at the moment.

I love the Zune HD. Add a phone onto that, release it unlocked / on t-mobile, and you've likely got a purchase, so long as they need the much needed modifications to Windows 7 to pull me away from android; that, of course, is an extremely tall order, given my love of the Android OS.

Honestly if they get the same OLED display and the responsiveness of the Zune HD (and if I hadn't just bought a new phone), I would totally want one. It's still the best touch screen interface I've ever encountered.

It'd need to have a more robust app store than the Zune has right now, though. And a terminal app. It's not a real smartphone if I can't use it to do my coursework via SSH.

I just wonder why Microsoft has become a catch-up of a company. The phone market is so overstaturated, and I don't think they're going to successfully slip the Zune brand in between the likes of the iPhone and Nexus (or any of the plethora of Android phones). Microsoft doesn't have any mobile UI worth a damn to put on this thing, and they haven't proven they're up to the task of making one (Windows Mobile is horrible and a flop, and the Zune interface, while pretty damn slick, is not going to suffice for a phone).

What I want is this:
Windows Mobile Phone
Full Zune HD Feature parity
Touch screen
QWERTY keyboard
TEGRA chip
--optinal: an actual D-pad for gaming

pack all those things and I will throw my old Motorola in the trash, not even glance at the iPhone or a Blackberry
and buy this Microsoft PHONE right away...

they could make a slider that slide out a keyboard in one direction and a psp-go type gamepad in the other direction... that would be awesome
