It's weird how bad I feel about killing animals in the game, so much so that I skin everyone I have killed for challenges etc so as if it's not a waste lol. I will activly try and shoot guys off horses instead of just shooting the horses and will fire warning shots if im being chased by wolves. Maybe it's something to do with how well animated they are and that when you kill them they die in such a sudden and realistic fashion (the beaver squeal is the worst) or maybe it's because I used to hunt in real life but feel bad about the amount of animals I killed needlessly.
Feel bad about killing animals?
The first time I killed a horse I laughed my ass off at the way it fell over. Not that I'm a dick to animals in real life (I have a mini-farm and love all my animals and love wild animals) but when it comes to video games I find it funny, as well as badass when I kill cougars and wolves chasing people.
" if those animals ever got the chance they would kill you and everyone you care about "
I didn't mind slaughtering the masses of bandits and the occasional marshal, but I honestly felt bad when I ran over a rabbit. Mind you, I jumped off, finished him off, and skinned the poor bastard. The first things I did in the game really was the hunting stuff, though I made sure I skinned everything and only killed the things I needed. Christ, I'm turning into a hippy.
/sigh
no not really. even when facing a dude on a horse i generally shoot the horse and then the dude (or lasso the dude and drag him through some cactus patches)
I only feel bad when I accidentally shoot my horse in the head while I'm riding it. TWICE that has happened.
Man if you think RDR is bad, try playing MH3. Most of the poor critters are just minding their own business, and it's your task to slaughter them all. I, personally, couldn't care less, but I bet some PETA folks must be flippin' dicks over it.

I feel bad about that fact there isn't a list of every species to kill to make that achievement that much easier. How many different kinda dogs do i gotta kill ta get an achievement around here?
That's funny, I was just thinking the same thing. Once I learned you could scare off wolves I stopped shooting them.
But I still kill cougars. Fuck all cougars.
i dont feel bad killing anything in a game ever. Note if you shoot dogs, and horses john will make comments like whats wrong with me? I dont know why I did that. And im a bad man. Not sure if live stock like cows or chickens count. i ran around just shooting horses in the hopes that if I killed them a black fast horse would be respawned/be found faster. I prob shot about 40 horses. Never got that damn mount >.>
If an animal attacks you, kill it. If you attack an animal you disgust me.
Answer to the question: Its not real! : It's not the killing so much that makes me think people who do it are scum, its the "durr,an animal, shoot it ha! it fell over". In a game a human can through storytelling(his actions, character), become an enemy. An animal is always innocent, with the exception of the cougars who from all reports are a menace. In the quick look Brad really offended me with the casual way he handled it , "Durr, animal not causing any harm, killing it will be fun, Durr....."
I slaughter everything, it's a videogame dude. What I like to do is shoot horses from under people chasing me, leaving the people alive and stranded.
They aren't real though it is kind of weird that I have killed over 50 Wolves since they make for bitchin' t-shirt designs.

The only time I felt bad was when I killed a raccoon and I thought it was a cat. The only animal I don't want to kill in a game is a cat. Anything else is fair game.

Well its just a game. I don't feel bad at all about it. Although it does piss me off that when I attempt to get the black horse up north near the snowy mountains, those damn bears attack me.
only time I felt even the slightest pangs of guilt was when I shot a fox that was just looking at me, wasn't running or anything, stupid believable graphics. I also felt kinda bad when I shot an armadillo with the sniper rifle, go ahead and try it.
