Super Meat Boy sequel announced!

What ever happened to Mewgenenics? I thought Edmund say he wouldn't do sequels.. yet all we've got is BoI expansions (which im cool with), this meat boy runner, and a meatboy-esque open ended platformer

Maybe the pressure got to him to follow up... he did release two of my favorite games ever made

@plop1920: While the limited look we got of Mewgenenics didn't seem overwhelmingly positive, the music portion was the cats meow..

I would much rather them find a way to make that game fun then make a runner with punching and kicking?

Yeah this isn't exactly what I would've liked out of a sequel, but honestly SMB doesn't need one, and I've recently had that particular itch scratched by The End is Nigh. I'll still check this out when it releases, but this is a weird direction to go in.

I...watched the stream without audio I did not catch that it was a runner, that is ... not really the way I would have gone.

"Announced" is a bit of a stretch. They've been talking about making Super Meat Boy Forever for like 3 years, and I'm pretty sure it was roughly the same kind of automatic runner back then as it appears to still be now.

But yeah, this trailer means they actually plan to release it soon and they're showing something pretty close to finished gameplay, whereas the earlier footage from years ago was probably more prototype-y.

It looks like a way less appealing Bit-Trip Runner. Also, that second-long pause every time you attack, at least in the video, looked awful. Maybe it's less disruptive when you're playing the game.

I thought this was known about for months? It's an endless runner meat boy game.

My emotional response when I saw the thread title compared to now: polar opposite.
