Poll What do you usually call the Super Nintendo Entertainment System? (573 votes)
Maybe you call it different things depending on the context or sentence. I guess I'm asking what have you called it the most.
I just say it as one word usually, Snes.

As a kid I would just call it 'Nintendo', but that was confusing since we also had a functioning NES and Game Boy too.
Snes, as a word. Probably due to not really having to say it out loud very much and mostly talking about it online, where it appeared generally as SNES or Snes.
I didn't get one until early/mid 2000's since I didn't have one as a child. I just called it the SNES, as a word, because it's the fastest way to say it.
Growing up I called the NES "The Nintendo" so if I would have had a SNES at the same time I most likely would have referred to it as "The Super Nintendo".
Generally super Nintendo because the people I'm speaking to might not understand snes or I feel a little awkward saying it.
"Snes" as a word (it's pretty much all I recall hearing in the UK), though it has to be "Snes" not "Snez" (the latter just sounds weird). Supa Famicom if I'm referring specifically to the JP system or a JP release (it's slightly closer to Sūpā than how I would pronounce Super in any other context, mostly due to usually hearing it said by Japanese speakers).
@monkehhh: The correct answer right here.
As a kid, I called it the "Super Nintendo" and the NES was the "Nintendo." Nowadays, "Snes" is probably the most intuitive for me, but it also depends who I'm talking to (i.e. if they know what a Snes is.)
I've never heard "Snes" as a word until I heard them say it on a podcast, it was always the Super Nintendo.
Saying it as a single word is completely insane. "Sness" or "Super Ness" or "Snezz" or "Super Nezzz" is the wrongest wrong thing that ever wronged.
I'm assuming you pronounce all acronyms then? G-I-Fs? J-P-Gs? A-W-O-L? What about the S-W-A-T team?
I don't understand this mindset unless you completely hate the existence of acronyms and only use initialisms.
Super nintendo, i never got the Snes saying coming up i always said S N E S in my head and just said Super Nintendo outloud. I called the nintend the N E S and nintendo as well.

We are deeply inconsistent creatures.

Not to mention radar or laser
At this point I usually say "sness" or "Super Nintendo" interchangeably. Really, as long as you don't do something insane like say "ESS-NESS" (which is a thing I'm pretty sure I heard during an episode of 8-4 Play) I'm fine with whatever.
I usually start with Super Nintendo so I know whoever I'm talking to know what I'm talking about, then I start saying "SNES" as a word. As a kid I said S-N-E-S, but when I became a teenager and found the emulator NESticle, saying N-E-S-ticle just didn't work, so I started saying NES and SNES.
S-N-E-S. Super Nintendo on occasion. I literally never heard Snes until I started listening to the Bombcast.
Snes, S-N-E-S, and Super Nintendo when I was younger. S-N-E-S just came after the advent of ZSNES; simple enough. Snes I occasionally use colloquially but is the most infrequently used one. Super Nintendo is definitely the best way to say it, people just don't say it anymore, probably for the same reason people don't say Playstation very often either.
Always called it the "Super Nintendo". Never heard it called "Snes" until listening to the bombcasts.

Actually, i used to say J P G and G I F before i heard it called gif and jpg/jpeg in college. I think it's something to do with actually hearing people say something out loud rather than coming up with the saying yourself. Nobody EVER said the word snes to me growing up, i only heard it said that way maybe in the last 15 years and now that is what i say when i see the word. Awol, Swat, nasa etc are all things i heard way before i knew what they stood for. I didn't know Nasa was an acronym for a long time as a kid, and honestly i don't know what Awol is an acronym for right now. Never actually looked it up lol, i'ts just a word i always heard used.
I still say L O L and not lol, and say Laughing my ass off when i see Lmao as well. I still find hearing those said out loud to sound funny.
Many are acceptable, some are just weird. A Super Famicom and Super Nintendo are different things and shouldn't be used interchangeably. The last option, really dude?
