Out of Nowhere, Valkyria Chronicles Is Coming to PC

Nobody was really asking for Sega to port Valkyria Chronicles to PC, but the company's already on it.

The surprise port was announced on Twitter by Sega, and we're still waiting for specifics on where the it's headed (probably Steam) and when it's coming out (hopefully by the end of the year!). Sega promises we'll have all that soon.

I don't know how much this influenced their decision to port the game but I think it would be nice to mention the petition that has been going on for a while now : https://www.change.org/p/sega-increase-the-number-of-pc-releases-segapcports.

I mean petitions aren't always useless : look at bloody Dark Souls. We might see more ports from Sega in the future.

I always meant to give this game a try. Maybe this time I finally will.

Quite literally one of my favorite games of all time. Can't wait to rebuy it and play it again. It's been years so I'm really looking forward to it!

Valkyria Chronicles is seriously in my top 5 favourite games of the last generation. I am so, so, SO happy that my PC-focused sisters and brothers can experience this wonderful, beautifully designed strategy game.

If you liked the latest XCOM even a little bit, you're in for a real treat.

I'm about to dive into Valkyria Chronicles for the first time ever, I only have Valkyria Chronicles 2.

Do you urge me to play the first one before the second or is it ok to just dive into the second?

Well apart from the pretty large petition for Sega to port their backlog to PC, no, nobody else, sure.

I thought the second game was kinda bad... So... I'd urge you to play the first game.

And no, you can jump right into VC2 without any problem. You'll meet characters from the first game, so if you consider those spoilers, act accordingly.

Hopefully the port is decent! I never did finish that game. It's pretty good but a some point I just stopped playing. And boy howdy did the narrative/dialogue keep pushing me away.

This game is great. Now can we get Valkyrie Chronicles 3 please.

One of like five games that made me think about buying a PS3. Not a bad day at all.

@johaneriksson: the 2nd one improves on the 1st one only in a few spots, namely the additional classes but scaled back and step down in many ways from the original. It's a good mobile adaptation of its big brother but VC1 is the total package (single player wise). I would play VC2 if you love VC1. Otherwise, just play VC1.

If you read the thread on NeoGAF about the petition there's some comments there that make it pretty clear the petition was a big part of it, which makes Patrick's "Nobody was really asking" comment sound kinda uninformed really.

Need them to release the whole series on PS4 as a HD update or something and i will buy that shit ASAP! Loved the first game, have the 2nd one on my vita... been looking at the fan translation of the 3rd on waiting for the patch to be released.

Valkyria Chronicles was the single reason I bought a PS3 so many years ago. And now that I've offloaded that thing..... looks like Sega will be getting some more of my money.

Never played it. Looks smashing, can't wait to give it a try.

I've actually been wanting to play this game for a while but don't have a console to do it on, so I'm pretty psyched about this.

This certainly saves me the trouble of finding it on PS3 for a decent price. Hopefully the port will live up to expectations.

I was about to say this, Patrick should have researched a little bit more on this, there was a big petition for SEGA to bring Valkirya Chronicles and other games to the PC.

Anyway I am really happy for it, this game was the sole reason I didn't complete retire my PS3.

I hope the others are in the pipeline, Vanquish and Bayonetta please....

I never, ever thought this would happen, which is part of the reason I eventually got a PS3. I guess overall it is still a win, just... did not see this coming.

Don't have a ps3 so I will definitely pick this up on steam as I have always been interested in it.

That's great, next they should totally drop PSO2. Also, pass the Yakuza games to Atlus USA to localize while they're at it.

Man, I sort of remember the loading time in this game to be atrocious on the PS3, even installed, hopefully putting it on the SSD would help it... maybe I'm mis-remembering that, still, this is exciting and my brother's friend can earn more money on their laptop by living in an apartment with a gorgeous Lexus LS400 who wants a faith draft of my brother doing this 4?

Strangely enough the dudes that were behind the petition post on neogaf and made the allegation that Patrick was gonna interview them and then he kinda never followed up, here's the post. Anyway Patrick maybe should had acknowledge that petition....then again it's a fucking internet petition and while it may have helped in bringing VC to the PC there were perhaps other factors as well.

Loved the first game, never played the others. Wonder if they might get an upgrade if sales are good?

This is great for me.. in a way. I bought the ps3 game and then the bluray crystal on my ps3 crapped out. I haven't replaced the ps3 because it seemed foolish to do so with the new consoles around the corner (at the time).

The store doesn't have a digital copy and it wasn't available anywhere else.. so i couldn't play it =( now.. i guess i'll have to buy it again, but at least i'll be able to play.

Fantastic game. The story got a bit too anime for me at times, but the gameplay made up for it. It'd be really nice if this ends up ported properly and they decide to bring over VC2 and 3 to the PC. I never bought the second one because I just can't enjoy handheld games anymore, and the third one never got a US release.

Great news i played and finished the PS3 version and for sure will get this for PC, hopefully it will pave the way for other Sega PC ports like Bayonetta, Vanquish and of course the one i really hope for the Yakuza series.

Nice! I have already have VC for PS3, but I'd totally buy it again on PC if the port is good. Every Platinum Games and Yakuza title should be on PC as well.

there's an amazon seller selling new for $18 USD, though shipping may be an issue for you. but yeah i guess there's no point now :)

Bought the game when i saw it in Hong Kong for ~$10. They just need to port the sequel as well cause i dont want to play it in a small screen.

And VC2 ported to PC and PS3 as well.
