I appreciate what they're going for, but it definitely could have been executed better. It's a bit of a bummer that there's no Mode 7...

The Pole Position car would be pretty good dlc, as would the others but that car is probably the most iconic.

Is one of those supposed to be Gran Turismo?

Yeah, I'll definitely be getting this. I've been playing Forza Horizon and, while I've been loving it, the whole "road trip" thing to get to races is starting to drag.

@believer258: I thought they were giving a shout-out to Ridge Racer.

Now that I think about it, they had to have worked with Namco for this commercial, right? There's no way they could get away with that close a parody of both RR and Pole Position.

Well when one of the cars in the Ridge Racer section is sideways, you totally see the word "SOLVALOU" down the side of the car, which is one of the manufacturers from the Ridge Racer universe, but is also the name of the ship from Xevious (and the title of a later game set in that series) so it's certainly possible that some deal was made.

@damodar: Also, I just noticed that there's a bunch of Galaga callouts in the Namco parts! (The logo is on one of the billboards in Pole Position, and there's gameplay on the video screen during Ridge Racer.)

That's really neat. They probably could have leant into the various references a little harder, but it's still terrific idea for a trailer.

Was thinking to myself "This sounds like a rip off of Danger High Voltage. Oh that's why."

I'm eager awaiting the next commercial where the driver is wearing a top hat and Gay Bar starts blaring.

Xbox have put up a video explaining all the references. It's a pretty weird thing for them to put out, but to be fair I hadn't picked up on all the references so it's nice for them to explain it all the way through, I guess.

PS: He mentions the PlayStation twice by name! Like he didn't have to, but he does it anyway. Weird, weird.
