I was enamored by Frozen Synapse from the moment I watched GB's Quick look, and it has honestly been such a good experience for me. I worried a bit at the game being in a beta-esque state at the time of the Quick-Look, but was quick to purchase it once I heard it hit full release. After convincing myself to work through the single player in preparation for the multiplayer, I was amazed at how much content was in the campaign (55 missions, I believe). While the story is a bit convoluted for my taste (people in the future hate each other - who knew?), I really enjoyed the mission structure and how the game evolved over the story. In fact, the last few missions of the single player campaign make you feel like a complete badass - working through loads of enemies with extremely small numbers. The last mission caused me a sleepless night, but I could not have been more elated to finish the game.
I'm really only now breaking into the multiplayer, and it is exactly (and I mean exactly) what I want out of a multiplayer game: the matchmaking is fantastic, the mission types are all there from the single player (though every game I've played so far has been Dark Extermination - seems the be the popular choice), and, best of all, I can use the game's turn-based structure to play one game over a week. I've gifted the game to three friends who live all over, and I will have no problem ever fitting a game in with their schedule. I'm a big board gamer, so the turn based structure scratches that itch too!
I implore anyone and everyone to play this game. Buy a copy and give the free copy to a friend or someone on GB. If you want to play me, bring it. My username is Truitt, and I'm ready to lose to real-life people.
