     how do I get the side leader board? I went though the menus and I dont see anything saying if I can turn it on. I haven't cared about the leader board side bar deal until this update that now I can see the medal info as well.

    You have to change your 360's display mode to Widescreen. It's stupid since there's so much empty space with a decent sized TV in Standard.
