Zarlor Mercenary is a vertical-scrolling shmup with support for up to four players. Similar to many titles in the genre, the game features weapon power-ups and shields, as well as multiple characters. The story revolves around the years-long conflict between the Zarlor and Mendicant races with the player assuming the role of a mercenary brought in to fight for the Zarlors. Most of the game takes place on the Mendicant homeworld.
