Overview

Racing Hero is considered a spiritual successor to the Hang-On series, but uses an over-the-shoulder perspective.

The game ran on the Sega X Board arcade system, based on Sega (Company)'s Super Scaler (Concept) technology.

The music was composedby Hikoshi Hashimoto (Person).

Gameplay

The gameplayis like a cross between Super Hang-On and OutRun. Like Super Hang-On, the player controls a motorcyclist, using a motorbike handlebar controller. Like OutRun, the gameplay involves the player riding through a traffic-filled road and reaching the next checkpoint before the time limit runs out. Also like OutRun, there are forked roads along the way, giving the player a choice between two paths, leading up to four different ending points. In one of the endings, the driver takes off the helmet and is revealed to be female.

For its tracks, the game includes tendifferent international locations, with their own themes. In England (Location), for example, cottages, red buses and the Houses of Parliament can be seen. In Egypt, desertsand pyramids can be seen.

In the August 1990 issue of Computer andamp;amp;amp; Video Games magazine, Julian Rignall gave the game a positive review. He gave it scores of 94% for graphics, 91% for sound, 90% for value, and 95% for playability, concluding with an overall 92% score.
