The act of ganking is when a person (or group of people) go after unsuspecting foes in a manner in which they cannot defend.

The term derives mostly from PVP (Player Vs. Player) areas in an MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game). Gankers usually travel in packs and pick on those much weaker than they are. Popular times a ganking will occur are when foes are actively fighting monsters, trying to complete a quest, or are waiting at the spawn point of a quest objective point.
